Re: QOTD 4/9

  • Plan to keep my current middle name because it's cool, and am not hesitating to change my last name- don't have much attachment to it.

  • I'll be taking his last name.  But I'll make my old last name my new middle name.  It's uncommon and my parents don't have any sons.  Plus my middle name is super common and I'm not attached to it at all.

This something I have yet to decide.  I have a bit of an odd situation. My son who is my oldest has my maiden name because his donor and I were not married yet when I had him. He is also the only boy to carry on my family name. My daughters have the donors last name because we did end up getting married and they were born during the "marriage". When I got divorced I went back to my maiden name. FI and I have had a few discussions about this. I gladly want to take FI's last name but having a different name from my kids is already hard enough. Schools still dont get it right. So its an up in the air thing.

  • I'm taking his last name and making my current last name my middle. That's what my mom did so kind of following in her footsteps!

Unsure if I am hyphonating or just taking it out right.  I have a daughter with my maiden name.  FI wants to legal adopt once married.  So unsure if we will both take his last name or what.

Not taking his last name at all... I guess I'm alone!  I don't mind socially being referred to by his last name, but business wise I need to keep my last name.

  • I'm taking his last name.  I'm not that attached to mine except for the fact that I have double initials haha

I considered making my current last name my middle name but I just don't like the sound of it.

  • I'll be taking FI last name, but I am not sure about changing the middle or if I will - it.. Since some time to decide.. almost a year to go!!!

  • I'm taking FI's last name and making my last name, my new middle name.  My last name is very uncommon and my Dad and his 3 brothers, all had girls, so the name is going to die off.

  • I remember reading something where it said about 95% of married women take their husband's last name, and I believe it!

  • I'm still debating.  As a scientist, I've been published under my current name.  It's very common for women in my field to keep their names.  I would like everyone in my household to have the same name, but changing it is almost like losing a lot of the things I've accomplished before getting married.  Sooo... I don't know!  Still plenty of time to decide though.
  • I can't wait to have my FI's last name! I'm not sure if I'll keep my maiden name or middle name. Keeping my maiden name and adding his last sounds weird, but is the tradition in my family. But, I kind of like my middle name! I'm glad I have plenty of time to decide!

  • I'm taking his last name.  The only attachement I might have to my name is that it signifies my Haitian heritage, but I know enough about myself to know that I have Haitian running through my blood to even worry about the name, haha!

  • I am soo taking his last name lol! Unfortunately it does kind of get lost after me but I love the idea of taking his last name, and since when we have kids they will have his last name I want to as well. I considered giving my first born the middle name of my last name but it just doesn't sound right and I love my middle name so it'll be dropped lol
