Growing kids in the bridal party/what to do about clothes sizes?

I have a junior bridesmaid and flower girl, both growing like weeds. My wedding is in late September..how do you plan for sizes? When is the latest we can reasonably get away with ordering? What sort of timeline should I suggest to the moms?

Re: Growing kids in the bridal party/what to do about clothes sizes?

  • We're buying off the rack bc my MOH and I don't want to stress over alterations for her daughter last minute and were buying off the rack. Wedding is in June and were getting her dress in April My 3 sons are in the wedding too and the tuxedo shop advised me to not even bring them in until march and do a final measuring 3 weeks before the wedding.
  • I'd delay ordering or purchasing outfits until pretty close to the wedding-maybe a couple of months, so that they are not likely to have outgrown them but there is enough time to alter them or buy new ones if necessary.
  • Talk to the store and find out the absolutely the last day to place or order, if you're not going off the rack.  They will undoubtably have run into the same issue before and will be able to advise you.  I know for our ring bearer, we were advised to get him measured just about a month before the wedding to rent his tux closest to his size.

Put it off as long as possible. Or pick a dress that is at a length that if they grow a few inches, it will still look cute.
