Newly engaged, both current students- HELLO!

Hi everyone. Just joined the board recently. I am very excited. I recently got engaged to my guy of 2 and half years (going on three). We're both currently in school. He'll be graduating earlier than me though (spring of 2012). I won't be graduating until, well its looking like 2013. We have set a date for our wedding, more like a very very VERY percise estimate (lol), of Dec 17 2011. We figured this would be good due to us both being off for winter session around that time. We were also considering this up coming summer- but honestly I thought it would be too close to organize while doing classes and such.
We're looking to have it in NJ, although we both go to school out here in California. NJ is where the majority of my family is.
Well, looking forward to posting with you all. Hope we can learn, share, and squee together for these happy times. Laughing

    Congrats! I'm not engaged yet myself but many of my friends planned their weddings in 3 months or less I'm sure you could do it in 9ish if its something you and your FI really want. Anyways, Congrats again :)

    Haha, you sound like me... I have a precise estimate also of September 15, 2012 (except I'm not even engaged yet!). Anyways, welcome, congratulations, and good luck on the wedding planning! It's gotta be tough planning it litterally on opposite sides of the country!

    Congratulations. Just some advice...

    My wedding is in two months and I'm pretty much just waiting. There hasn't been a "crunch time" and I don't forsee having one. We have been engaged for almost a year and had I known then what I know now we would have planned to have a shorter engagement. Planning a wedding doesn't take nearly as much time and effort as people make it out to be. You may want to consider the summer because changing your martial status on your FAFSA for that year could help your financial aid - at least that's the case for me.

    Awww- you guys are really making me think about moving up the date-lol. But I've kind of built myself up for a winter wedding-lol. My Mom was already hesistant about moving it up to December 2011instead of Summer 2012 like I had originally told her. I think its probably our parents having to get used to thefact of us being engaged which makes them want to make our engagement long, but in the end I guess its up to us. Well, I guess I'll see how getting a venue for our inital date goes. If its a hassel, maybe we'll look at some earlier dates as well.

    I can definately relate! FI and I are planning a wedding in NJ from FL and it's been really challenging! Luckily we have some great family to look around for us but its been really hard to plan so far! We are getting married June 2012 and I am so thankful I have so time because we only get back to Jersey like 3 times a year! Good Luck planning! I hope it goes a little easier for you!

    Same date as us.. 17 Dec 2011, but for us that's summer in south africa... we both still studying as well... i have BSc honours to complete next year, while he will be working on the other side of the country finishing his practical as well... but after that it's full time work for both of us...
