Missouri-Kansas City

Venues! Venues!

There are some great new venues in the Kansas City area. I'd loved to hear about your venue and why you finally decided to select it for your special day!

If you've already been married what was the best or worst thing about the venue?

Re: Venues! Venues!

  • FI and I chose the Scottish Rite Temple of Kansaa City in downtown. I really wanted a historic KC setting with beautiful architecture and FI didn't want to spend a boatload of money, lol. It's a gorgeous venue and huge to boot auditorium seats 1500 and dining hall seats 500 which was really helpful since the wedding onion got our guest list, lol. The special events coordinator was happy to work within our budget to get us into the venue. As a bonus the organization that owns the building is part of an organization that both FI and I are very active in and that works to help in the community which makes us happy we could support the organization in an additional way besides giving of our time :

  • lovefuzzies how much did the scotish rite temple charge you?  I'm asking because I was so excited about them, but no one ever called me back.  If they are in my price range I will make sure someone answers me.  :-)

  • We had our reception at the Argosy Casino.  Neither one of us wanted downtown locations and since we got married North of the River we kept our venue seeking there.  We looked at many places and liked a lot of them.  What sold us on the Argosy is the main entrance near  the hotel is beautiful.  The ballroom area was decorated just like I wanted.  The coordinator I had bent over backwards to help us get exactly what we wanted.  For example, H loves chicken spedini but they didn't have that on their menu to choose from.  The coordinator and the chef went to H's favorite restaurant to "taste test" their chicken spedini and then recreated at best they could for our taste testing.  It was awesome.  Over a year later we still get compliments on how amazing the food was.  It is a little on the pricier side but definately worth it.

<div>Mandalynn, we set up a special deal with them because we had a very tight budget for the venue.  We'll upgrade to the standard package later if we can.  My suggestion is that if you can't afford their standard package let them know you're very interested in the venue but it's a bit out of your budget.  That's what I told the coordinator when I talked to her and she was happy to work within our budget.  I know their hours are Tuesday-Thursday from like 10am to 3pm.  I've had a couple of times where I've tried to get in touch with the coordinator and she hasn't responded but I'd email first then call and then email again and she finally responds.  Keep trying their phone and email.  I'll send you a PM with the package info she sent me but keep in mind that those prices may go up next year.</div>
