NWR - School's out and I wish i had summer off!

Ok i realize that in comparison to the problems in the world, this one is ridiculous... but...

I want summer off!!  I want to go to the pool with the boys every day.  Read actual books.  Get a tan.  Do household projects.  Go to matinee movies and waterparks.

Instead, I get home from work and go LET'S GO TO THE POOL. but no, they already did.  *sigh*

This weekend i'm shuttling two teens to camp... but next weekend - look out pool!

Should have listened to my parents and gone into education.  Instead I went into healthcare - talk about 24/7 :(

Hey Latasha - looks like you're getting married week end after me!

ETA:  I do miss summers off as well.  Before going into healthcare I did work at a school district part-time while son was growing up and I attended college.  <sigh /> I miss that.

I am right there with you ladies.  My sone get's out of school next Tuesday and leaves for FL on Wed.  I get to stay home, work full time and go to school.  Life is sometimes so backwards.  As kids, you just want to grow up...once grown up all you want is to be kid again.

Screw the summer. I want to win the lottery.  Then I'd have summer off, but fall, winter and spring, too.   Seriously.  I've been working since I was 16.  The only summer I haven't worked was the one when I broke my leg when I was in college.  That was when I was 21.  Oh, and 3 years when I was a SAHM in Alaska, but that was a bit different as a military spouse.  There's still a LOT of work, it's just different.

I know what you mean. My son has been out of school since last Friday. I work from home but I don't get off until 5ish/6ish. I hope to take some Fridays off just so I can get to the pool and just enjoy the summer.

Pacificgalx, your situation is like mine. I work at home every day at my desk, but I take "mental health breaks" during the day......... go out and water flowers, sit on my front porch glider and eat lunch. It's the only way to NOT work 24/7.

I'm lucky, our company has a "daylight savings time" summer plan. We work an extra 4 hrs during a 2 week period, then can have every other Friday afternoon off. Of course, you cannot switch that time with anyone, and MY supposed "Half day Fridays" have always been interrupted by business travel or conference calls that were client oriented. I've always thought this is a nice "bonus" companies can offer, it doesn't cost anything, and keeps employees motivated during the summer when the weather is nice.

When my kids were little, I used to take vacation days on Fridays or Mondays during the summer so we could have mini-vacations and hang out. Now all my vacations surround family oriented travel out of state, so I don't get to "play" Waaaah.

    Great topic!

Sue-n-Kevin - I love working from home. I am able to have dinner ready and I'm here with the children when they get home from school. My company decided to reduce costs 4 years ago and moved to a smaller office bldg. They sent everyone homes except for upper mgmt. I contemplated at the time whether to continue to climb the corporate ladder or stay in my current position and continue working from home. It was a no-brainer decision.

We also have an option to work 4x10 with Friday off. I use my lunch breaks to do housework, water the plants, exercise or go to the pool. I do work odd hours even though when I'm suppose to be 'off' work. I love it!!!
