Struggling to find a reception venue

Were getting married at Victoria Wedding Chapel in Waterford, love the location but we are struggling to find someplace to have our reception at.  I have no idea where to start looking. Now that were down to 6 months im starting to panic.  We are leaning towards trying to DIY the food and decor but im at a loss. Any ideas are welcome :)

I'm not familiar with the Waterford area, but it sounds as though you are having a wedding in the summer.

Check into parks with pavilions. They may not be as close as you like, but I'd bet there are some within 30-40 minutes of your ceremony site.

Look at the permanent push pins at the top of this board. You can get an idea for the places many brides have booked, along with costs.

I would caution against DIY-ing the food, whether you or family or friends. It is very difficult to keep hot foods hot, cold foods cold, and keep the food replenished........... it's also not fair to you or family to have worry about this while you are trying to enjoy your day. You don't want any food poisoning issues.

It might help us to help you if you were more specific. What is your budget? Your anticipated guest list count?

What is your budget? How many people are planning on inviting? I know we looked in the Clarkston area and there were some really great golf courses as well as a metro park in the area that are available for receptions.

It's a garden center in Pontiac (Orchard Lake/Telegraph area), and their greenhouses make absoluely beautiful wedding receptions.  Look at their FB page, they have photos of previous weddings.  Our reception will be about 200 people, but their main greenhouse holds up to 80 really nicely.  I wanted that one, but there are just going to be too many people to fit tables, a bar, a dance floor etc.
The owner's name is Tim and his assistant is Mary.  They're pretty relaxed.  Everything is DIY, from catering to tables and chairs, so it saves a lot of money.
    Happy hunting :0)

Isn't Waterford close to Pontiac? What about the Lafayette Grand? I just went to a wedding there and we also used to do work events there. My friend who got married there said pricing was very reasonable -- though they were a bit off season so that may have been a factor.

I'm actually getting married there also, but not until October 2013. I don't have a reception venue picked out yet, but I've been looking at The Iroquois Club (just down the street from the chapel), as well as The Rochester Chop House. My wedding is less than 50 people, so we haven't decided if we want to do a restuarant or a banquet hall.<div>

We got married in Holly and had our reception inside at Springfield Oaks County Park and they have their own catering company.  FABULOUS!! We received a lot of compliments on the venue and the food!! Good price too!! The room we had held 250 people and it was called the Carousal Hall.  Their catering company was Oaks Management (out of Addison Oaks County Park).  The person you want to get a hold of is Pam - Springfield Oaks County Park should have her number. You can talk to Laurie or Dan at Addison Oaks County Park.
