Aaaah, to know thine own self...and love her anyway

I have stumbled on the best less stress wedding idea never mentioned. The dress of my dreams went on sale making it actually affordable without having to remortgage the house. The hidden upside, the only one left was a size larger than i wear. If left to my own devices i would have probably tried to lose that forever last five pounds and fit into a size smaller than usual.
I know for a fact that i have an addiction to pastries when stressed especially. I also know now that viewing hundreds of pictures of cake doesn't help. This way, if i munch a petit fore or five at least i don't worry over fitting into my dress! Are there any other brides not worried about actually gaining a few during the hurry and stress?

A size larger than your wedding dress size or jeans size? Dresses run 12 sizes larger than street sizes, FYI.

Congrats on finding a dress! I assume you've tried on this dress before buying it? Not to be downer, but I also hope you know your bridal size rather than your "street size," or that you consulted the size chart provided by the brand. I'm usually a 4 in regular clothing, but my wedding dress was a size 8. I found during my wedding planning and buying a house in one year that I'm fortunately one of those people who loses weight when stressed.

OP, what brand is the dress?  I know many people who had to buy larger sizes than normal when purchasing wedding gowns.  However, I do think it's possible that the brand makes a difference when it comes to sizing.  Mine was a Mori Lee and I would've been able to wear my street size (I'm normally a 4, my gown was a 6, but I could've easily worn a 4).  My sister also wore a Mori Lee gown and hers was also true to size.

Regardless, congrats on finding a dress!  Any pics?

I had tried the dress on just for giggles and moved on to looking for more affordable options. It's White by Vera Wang at David's Bridal. I have to say i'm not a huge fan of the chain but where i  am it is a good resource for a tight budget or getting a real feel of what you really look like in different designs and fits.

I get the feeling that wedding dress designers follow the same rules as regular clothing designers: they just make up sizes and do whatever the hell they want.

My wedding dress (Which only needed to be hemmed to fit me perfectly) was a size 4. I've never in my adult life taken smaller than a 6 in pants or dresses in any other article of clothing that I've purchased

*I felt sorry for my husband before I met him. Take a number.*
