RSVP Date

Hi ladies! I am designing our invitations, and trying to get an idea of a good RSVP date. Our venue/caterer needs to have the numbers at the latest 7 days prior to the wedding....so any idea when I should put a RSVP date of? Two weeks prior to that? More?

Our wedding date is 10/23/10 if that helps anyone.

TIA!

I would do 30 days before, so 09/23/10. You will be going bonkers if you do two weeks before because as most brides on here can attest, guests are idiots and don't know how to send in pre-addressed and stamped RSVPs, return phone calls or emails.

We didn't get our invites out until about 2 months prior, so we left a decent window and asked for RSVPs by two weeks prior. Most are people we talk to regularly anyway, so for the most part it's come up in normal conversation (we aren't doing paper invites, so it's a little different for us).

They say 3ish weeks out, but I don't think that is good because it seems like people are challenged at filling out a response card and mailing them back.  So i put a month before and I feel like I have heard more people putting a month out too.

I'm with Erika..I did a month before. So many people forget to RSVP, and if you are DIY-ing anything...like OOT bags, Escort Cards, etc...you might want the extra lead time :)
