    The only people who I've heard of doing 'surprise' weddings are celebrities and they don't play by the same rules as people in real life do...so yeah, I don't get it either.

    There is nothing about that idea that sounds like a good idea or that it will end well. If DH had proposed that while we planning our wedding I would have laughed in his face.

    A friend's husband surprised her with a wedding during a vacation. It was an elopement-type wedding, though. No guests. They've been married like 10 years or something.

    And please to be recalling the surprise vowel renewal I attended just before Xmas.

    It wouldn't be my choice, but I don't think it's going to be a big trainwreck or anything.
