Loose Park Rose Garden

I've scanned the boards and don't see much about any Rose Garden weddings. I'm hoping to book this for our June 4th ceremony but from the information I've found, it can't be booked until the 1st of the year.
I am very nervous about being able to get our date. Does anyone else have any experience with this?

It is correct that you can't book any city or county parks until the first of the year due to fee changes.  They usually increase fees each year, but won't know until the end of 2010 what they will be in 2011.

However, I will say that that when I inquired about a park I was told that it couldn't be booked until the first business day of the new year, however, they would pencil me in.  If this is how they do it for everyone I would contact them ASAP because June is a very popular month for weddings.

When we first started planning I looked into Loose park but was basically scared away because you can't book out very far, which means you can't plan much else. That may not be a problem if you are planning a small wedding and dinner or something like that. Also I asked and they told me that for popular dates (basically nice weather weekends) some people camp out there the night before so they can book the date they want...a bit crazy to me!

The camping out to get your date thing is exactly what I was wondering about. We live nearby and are in the park all the time. There were weddings there almost every weekend...and seeing them all the time only made me want to have mine there even more!

I got married at Loose Park.  It was very neat.  I didn't camp out, i happened to go switch locations from a mansion to here and they had our date open a few months before the wedding.  You do have to supply your own chairs and sound if you want it.  That was a hassle and can cost more.  But it was beautiful for photos.  I thought it was a perfect spot if you want to be outside and not cost a lot

A friend of mine had her wedding there in September, and she did the whole camping out thing. She and her fiance were the first ones there, and when a few other couples arrived, they all agreed to stay in their cars, instead of all staying out in the cold! I know she went in with a few back up dates, in case her original one was taken, so that may be a good idea to do.

Typically the first weekend in June is the Rose Show and celebration in the garden, it's an all weekend event. I'm not positive they will book a wedding that weekend- it typically is reserved for the Rose Society.

How early do you typically have to get there if you are camping out the night before? What time do people start coming?
  • This is all news to me, I booked Loose Park for my wedding back in October (the wedding isn't until this coming June). They had no issues putting me down for my scheduled date/time and then taking my money. No camping out necessary!!
I suggest just going in and talking to the woman who runs the scheduling. She is a little rough around the edges but overall quite helpful.
