College Class Attendance (stolen from SB)

So I was lurking on SB and there was a thread about this and it got me curious. If/When you ladies were in college, what was your attendance like? 

I'm in a bad habit already of not going to two of my lectures and it's only the third week of classes. I think it's a combination of Senioritis and the fact that one of the the prof. posts videos and powerpoints of every lecture and the other one is from Sweden and I literally can't understand one word.

    Most of the time I was pretty good, but morning classes were always difficult for me.  If it started before 10:30, there was a good chance I wouldn't go.  There was also one semester I can remember when I skipped about half of my classes every week

    I had one class sophomore year that was just terrible to go to. I went to about 4 classes, two of those being an exam and I ended up with a B+ in the class. I don't know how I pulled that one off.

    During my undergrad, it really depended on the class. I did performance, so if I skipped those classes I'd fail. However, my general education classes were another story. I had to take a natural science, so I took Astronomy. It was actually really interesting content, and I did the work on my time, but it was much nicer to skip the class. All the notes were online (we're not talking bullet points here), and it meant I didn't have to hang around for 3 hours between classes, and then sit through the 3 hour lecture.

    Now that I'm doing my Master's, all of my classes are performance based, so I really can't skip any of them. I basically have to go to class even when I'm sick. :(

    I go to every single class unless I am really sick or at a funeral.  I love going to class, I love to learn and I love school.  If I don't go to class I feel like I am missing something really important.  It really bothers me.  I know I am a weird one though...  I did skip lots of classes in High School though....

    I have a terrible attendance record in university, carried over from my terrible attendance in high school. I really don't like school and I never have. I'm smart enough that I still do fairly well without going to class (I still do my readings and assignments and so on)

    I give the first week a chance, but after that, there are no guarantees. If I like the prof/course I'll probably go 90% of the time. If I don't like the prof or the course, and I don't feel I gain anything of value by going, I'll probably go 10% of the time.

    I never missed a single day of my nursing school career, but when I was in the liberal arts, I was a little more fast and loose with my attendance. One class (fencing) I didn't end up liking but was too embarrassed to go talk to the professor or the registrar so I ended up failing it because I never showed up. Oops.

    For me, it depended.  As an undergraduate, I skipped required classes I wasn't interested in.  (I showed up about 4 times for Biology 100, to take my multiple choice tests, and walked away with a C, having done no homework).  The classes I was interested in, I attended most of the time.  As a graduate student, if I miss class, I feel like I've been slaughtering kittens.  There's something just wrong about it, and I feel judged.

    I never ever missed a class.  I was a total school girl and I'm totally proud to admit it.

    I'm at school on a nice scholarship that is dependent on my GPA. My college is also a seminar college, with an average of 15 students per class, so any absence is really noticeable. I had one lecture where I could not stand the lecturer's voice, so I think I skipped like three classes in a row, but in that class, the grade was dependent upon the discussion portion with a different professor - and I went to every one of those.

    I generally only miss class if I'm sick, or God forbid, a funeral.

    I skipped my big lectures from time to time. All of my nursing classes had attendance requirements and actually took attendance.

    I'm also the weird person who hates power points as notes. Almost all my professors either printed off the power point from each class, or posted them online. A lot of people just printed them off and used them instead of notes. I always just took my own notes/copied the power point by hand. I think it helped me better comprehend the material, and helped keep me from getting super bored.

    Then again, I also found most of my nursing classes pretty interesting. I miss college.

    I so agree. I'm doing my phd right now and feel horrible whenever I miss a class. I loved your metaphor though because it fit perfectly.

    In my undergrad there were a few early morning classes that sometimes I would skip just because I couldn't drag myself out of bed.  Otherwise I got pretty good at attending all of my classes, mostly because in the upper years our profs wouldn't put notes online, or if they did they weren't very good.   I take notes in a specific way so I didn't like asking other people to send me their notes.  

    BF skipped almost every single lecture for a certain class one year, I was impressed he did so well.

    If I  miss more than 2 classes my grade drops a whole letter- university policy. I think its ridiculous. So, I go to most every class.
    Used to be bourgehm. +1,500 posts. Silly knot

    I go to almost all of mine... But that's because I'm totally neurotic and convinced that I can't pass them unless I go EVERY SINGLE DAY.

    ...Of course, this is coming from a girl who is currently sitting in her favorite coffee joint, contemplating whether or not Plath sounds like a good class to attend today (in forty minutes), or if I should just go grab a vodka-lemonaid and get tanked. o.O;; Just one of those days, I suppose.

    I go to my classes unless I am sick or am excused for athletics. Depending on what is due that day, I'll go even if I'm sick.

    I only go to class for two reasons:
    1.) They take attendance
    2.) They don't take attendance and there's a quiz or homework I can't turn in online.

    This is probably why it has taken me 6+ years to get my bachelors.
