After Party Ideas?

Hi Ladies!

Hope everyone's having a great week!

Is anyone having an after party after their Reception? Our Reception is finishing at about 10:30pm and we'd like to move the party to a more casual location (probably about 30 - 40 of us), would anyone have any suggestions?

Thank you :)

Where are you getting married? If at a hotel then I would just continue on at the hotel bar. Otherwise any bar close by would prob be more than accomadating : ) Or if you booked a lot of rooms at a hotel for guests than check their bar area.

Are you getting Married at the Glen right?
I believe most Glen brides went into newport after.
I specifically remember someone going to a karokee bar.

If you didn't want to get into downtown newport- you can always go to the bars around the ABC.

Otherwise- there are probably some cute bars in Bristol.

Where are you staying the night of the wedding? In Middletown? In Newport?

I am having an after party-- but it worked out easy for us. We are walking across the street to Coast Guard House- and they are going to have some sandwiches and stuff... and we can dance and have something to drink before calling it a night. I'm also thinking about 30-40 people

Thanks i2012, yeah we're going to be at the Glen and staying in Newport for the night.  I am hoping we can find somewhere thats open for at least a few hours afterwards as we're getting married on a Sunday.  I was also wondering what other brides do re getting changed, do people get changed at the hotel before they go to the bar or I wasnt sure whether to get changed at the Glen... decisions decisions

I think bars close at 1am 7 days a week everywhere in RI except for providence, so you should have some options as to where you go for a couple hours!

We are going to "On the Rocks" after our Rehersal Dinner. Its a local bar/club that you get to by going through One Eighty on Broadway.

Where in Newport are you staying?  We went to Griswold's on Bellevue after my sister in law's wedding.  It was good because we had plenty of room and it wasn't very crowded (even on a Saturday).  I'm also trying to figure out where to go after our wedding is done at 11pm on a Sunday. The bar at our hotel closes before then but I also don't really want to drive anywhere.

Hi Liz, we'll be staying in Newport .  I hadn't heard of Griswolds before but sounds like a great option, thanks for posting this :)

I also have an early ending reception and am doing an "after" party.  We are doing ours at Iron Works Tavern in Warwick, it was easy because it is connected to the hotel where we set up roomblocks and the hotel shuttle is bringing us back from the reception.  If you want live music I would recomment finding a bar where Those Guys are plying.  They usually play in Newport in the summer. www.thoseguysnpt.com
If you want to do food/snacks this is not a good option as it is more of a drinking and dancing scene.

    Hi there-

I live in Newport, RI.  Where you go would really depend on where you are staying.  What month is your wedding and what hotel are you staying at?  I would be happy to give you some recommendations.

    Hi JK,

Our wedding is in August and we're planning on staying in Newport, looking at a few hotels but probably city center.

Anything that's close by would be great!

    Thanks,

Oh I love Griswalds too! There is a lot of room there to spread out, and the bartenders are always great.

There are really typical Newport spots- that even on  a Sunday might be croweded.

Are you doing room blocks? If so, you could just head to the hotel bar-- then everyone can just head back to their rooms.
Likely, I feel like people hang around for an hr or so anyway so that might be perfect.

Oh and about the changing. I am likely just going to bring a short white dress to the venue and change there before heading over to the Coast Guard.
And have my mom/coordinator bring my dress back to the hotel

If you want to be outdoors downtown, The Landing is right downtown and on the harbor and a cool outdoor bar area.  A good mix for all.  Pier 49 is at the Newport Hotel & Marina which has live music and doesn't get too busy usually and the Black Pearl outdoor bar.  H2O is another great option, but may get busy.

Down Thames a bit you hit O'Briens, which is good for the younger crowd, down the alley from O'Briens is @the Deck which is another great all around out doors option.  The Pier opened last year and is down that end of town and a great spot. These are all walking distance, but not right in the main area of the hotels.

Inside, I would recommend Gas Lamp or Buskers for a good all around spot, Speak Easy is a new sports bar on Thames.  The Pelham will be rocking with a younger crowd and is fun for live bands. Christies is a bit more mature inside spot.

Hope that helps!  You can PM me if you book your hotel and are still looking for suggestions.

I am getting married at the Towers next year and wanted to do an after party at the Coastguard House. It will probably be about 30 or 40 people as well. What are they charging you for this, if you do not mind me asking?
