Photoshop vs Publisher

Hello brides!!

I recently decided to make invitations for a couple friends' weddings and I'm enjoying creating. (I AM NOT SOLICITING MY SERVICES!! PLEASE DON'T HAVE THIS POST DELETED!!) :)

What is everyone using to design their invites/STDs?? I have been trying to do some research on which would be better for me, Photoshop (which I've found is uber expensive!!) or Microsoft Publisher. Or any other programs that you may have. TIA :)

    Honestly myslef or my fiance have never worked with publisher. We are doing our STDs and invites in Adobe Illustrator. I did a couple of things in Photohop (that couldnt be done in Illustrator) and then moved it over.

    I would do whatever you're more comfortable with.  I tried learning photoshop a little to do our STDs, and it was just too much work personally.  I ended up doing our invites in publisher and I think they look a lot better, because I knew the program more.

    I am a photographer...so I know Photoshop, and I love it. That's what I've used so far. If you're willing to do a little learning, it is so worth it. There is SO much you can do!!!

    cgeorge, I hope you're not a wedding photographer.  Hint, hint.

    I've used Publisher, Photoshop, and Illustrator.  If you're not familiar with the Adobe products and don't already have a copy of them, it's a big investment just to do invites for your friends.  I'd recommend using Publisher, and if you find you need something more, then the 30 day trial from Adobe should be sufficient.  But, at least do your concept design work in Publisher so that you don't need more than the 30 days.

    You can try Photoshop Elements -- doesn't have all the bells and whistles of the full verison, but it's much cheaper. Usually under $100.
