  I am hiring a string quartet for my ceremony, and many of the quartets will offer solo violinists. I found mine by searching on gigmasters.com- although I don't like the idea of booking through the site (you have to pay a 5% booking fee, unless your vendor picks it up-many of them do), there were many selections and I could send the same email to all of them at once. I will be going with either Go 4 Baroque or The Four Seasons, as they were the best priced, I have heard good things about both from fellow Knotties, and they seemed to be very good at getting back to me right away.
  
  If you are on a tighter budget, you may want to check with local colleges (i.e. U of M, Wayne State) and see if there is a student who would be interested in playing! There are some very talented students who would probably be willing to perform for less than the advertised groups.

  I can definitely recommend the one we hired. She played at a wedding I went to a couple of years ago, and is playing at our ceremony. Because she's not affiliated with anyone, I asked permission before giving out her contact info (she's a "friend of a friend"). She played "Ave Maria" as a solo at the wedding where I heard her, and it made the hair on the back of my neck stand up, it was sooooooo lovely.
