NJ/NY venue Help

I didn't realize wedding planning would be so difficult until I started thinking about venues and realized Im without a clue. I came upon this site last year and now that I'm engaged I see that I need tremendous help and I'm hoping someone can offer me some venue advice.

In my mind I picture a small wedding, 50 guests at most, a daytime out door ceremony preferably on site of reception and reception in a room with lots of light, perhaps full wall of windows. Ive come across web sites with locations that meet my ideals in terms of site however all require a guest minimum far more that I wish to have. Here lies my dilemma.

Can anyone recommend a site that would meet my ideas and would be it too much to ask that it wont completely leave me in the poor house? I haven't set a date, so im flexible with dates and locations, from new york, outer boroughs or new jersey north and south. Though I am really leaning towards central/south Jersey.

Thank you to anyone reading my far too long a first post!

Hmm 50 guests is small for all your requirements, I know there are several hotels that have the windows you would like. Are you open to a Friday or Sunday wedding?

I am not sure if they will do 50 ppl. But the Brownstone is where I am getting married. They have the Grand Conservatory which is all glass and look amazing on a clear night. I am actually having my ceremony in that room.  I know Jaytee had her reception in that room and I believe she had 80pp. So I am not sure of the Minimum. But the prices are good.  They also have a patio walk aout area with nice landscaping and a fountain. Page Jaytee and see if she can give you more info.

Thank you all for your quick replies !!

FI doesn't have alot of family and though I do I want to keep it to those whom im closer to or at least have seen in the last year ha... I could even cut it down to 35 but due to my parents few guests whom I am obligated to invite it will be around 60. The room doesn't necessarily have to be all window but I prefer LIGHT versus alot of the dark  themed pictures Ive seen of some venues. Not to take away from certain places because I know darker color themed venues could look amazing in the evening with candles and such.  In terms of price, I havent set a budget as of yet but I don't want to blow the bank so to speak. We are also saving for our home so the less money to a wedding the easier it will be the easier it will be since we for the most part are paying for everything. As far as what day, Sunday daytime is fine by me
Im Located in Brooklyn for now but most of my guests are from Jersey .There are a few beautiful places in Long Island NY but I dont want to make it difficult for so many people which is why Im leaning towards having it in NJ if possible.

    Congrats and welcome.

I am not sure about the pricing, but look into Frank's Waterside in North Bergen.  I remember a couple of girls on this board had small receptions there last year.

Also, maybe Courtyard on Main in Freehold and Biaggios in Paramus.

I'm from SI and I always thought this would be nice for a small wedding.  I'm not 100% this restaurant holds weddings but it does have an outdoor space and I know it holds parties.

I'm not too sure in Jersey since when I was looking at halls, I was looking for 200+ people.

    Good luck

I don't know what their minimum is but I saw this while flipping through a magazine and thought the space looked amazing. I believe you bring your own catering too so that's great if you're working with a budget

They do clear top events on top of their building and there is so much greenery it's so pretty

We thought that Costa Del Sol in Union was a nice venue, just a *little* small for our guest list. They have a small outdoor space for a ceremony and cocktail hour, and the ballroom outside is all glass. It was under $100pp when we inquired about a March/April wedding.

I would also check out restaurantpassion.com for some ideas - maybe a restaurant would be best for you, since reception halls sometimes have a 100+ minimum that you'd have to meet.

This restaurant on River Road in North Bergen meets your needs of accomodating 50 people. It also has a lot of windows, from floor to ceiling.
Only thing I'm not sure about is pricing and the outdoor ceremony but it doesnt hurt to check them out.

I am having my reception in the Grand Conservatory at the Brownstone. They told me that I need a minimum of 75 people.  That being said, if you are flexible with the season and time of year you may be able to negotiate with them for a lower minimum on an off season date.

They don't have outdoor ceremony locations, but The Downtown and Ashes (soon to change their name to Blu something) in Red Bank have great upstairs loft areas.

Congrats and welcome! I would suggest The Madison Hotel in Morristown. Their Conservatory is an entire glass room and I believe it will accomodate your guests well. Good luck!

The Manor in West Orange has beautiful grounds for an outdoor ceremony and has a room upstairs that has a smaller min.  I would also suggest The Bernards Inn.

What about Lambertville Station?  FI and I were in the Lambertville, NJ/New Hope, PA area for a long weekend (we stayed at the Chimney Hill Inn... it's a bed and breakfast).  The area is GORGEOUS and the people there are so nice... it's right on the Delaware River in a really quiet and serene area.

I have a friend who's actually getting married at Lambertville Station and she's having a small wedding of about 50 people too.

    This is Lambertville Station: http://www.lambertvillestation.com/

And you could actually stay at the Chimney Hill Inn overnight if you wanted: http://www.chimneyhillinn.com/

Avenue in Long Branch is really cool and has a rooftop area and pool for the ceremony

Take a look at The Chateau on Cranbury Rd in East Brunswick. My FI and I checked it out and I had my prom there. You can have an outdoor ceremony in the Gazebo. You will be able to fit all of your guests in it as its huge. They were completely fine with our guest list size (70) so your smaller size of 50-60 should be fine. They have a porch area for cocktail hour and room full of windows for receptions. It was around $80 per person

Also take a look at Gran Centurions in Clark. Again, there is an outdoor ceremony area. They have 3 different rooms to choose from but 2 of them are for small weddings. Both are full of windows and one of them has a porch. Prices were around $60 per person when we looked
