Which store has the best PRICES for bridesmaids dresses?

Hey there,

http://www.alfredangeloca.com/Collections/ProductDisplay.aspx?style=7050

This is most likely the dress I'm getting as my maid of honour dress (best friend is the one getting married, she picks the colour, we pick whatever style we want). The price quote was $279 at Bridal and Beyond.

I figured if anyone was going to know of another store or some magical land where this dress might be a little less expensive, it would be you lovely people. Any help would be extremely appreciated, please :)

My BMs wore Alfred Angelo dresses as well and we got a slightly better price at Chris & Tina's in Scarborough than the quote we got at Bridal and Beyond. I think it was only a $10 or $15 difference though. That being said, their service was wonderful and they capped their alterations fee at $50 per dress when I ordered.

If you know anyone in the US who can get them for you, I looked into ordering from bestbridalprices.com. But when I considered ordering and shipping them here from the US, the shipping and duty costs pretty much made up for the price difference.

becker's bridal offers a 15% discount if you don't do alterations with them (why, I don't know) and from my experience sometimes you can kind of play the stores up against each other and say "I am getting X price for this dress from Y store, what price can you give me?"

Here it is for $124... not sure how much shipping/duty would be.

Re: online ordering - like I said, I had considered ordering my Alfred Angelo BM dresses from House of Brides or Best Bridal Prices online as well. On paper, it did look significantly cheaper (don't remember exactly how much).  But when I did my research, I found out that the duty rate was 17%. (I even called the Canada Border Services Agency). This, plus potential brokerage fees (which differs by courier), plus shipping, and the exchange rate almost made up for the difference in the price of the dress.

Beckers offers that 15% off to support their local seamstresses, and also because once it leaves the store, it is no longer their problem if there is an alteration issue.  They also have a lot of business just having brides come in and out that it keeps it manageable as well with fewer alterations (I asked my saleswoman that question).

Good to know, thanks Littlin! Are you are your BM's taking that discount? If so, what seamstress did you guys pick or are your BM's picking their own seamstress?

Yep, they took the discount.  They all live in different areas (Mississauga, Oakville, Ottawa, New Zealand - yep, had to ship it to her!) so they are each going to a seamstress they found in their areas.
