Reception dress?

Are you changing out of your wedding dress for the reception?

Re: Reception dress?

  • I'm considering not. I like my wedding dress and it;s simple and comfortable enough to dance in. However I am keeping my eyes open for a cute, inexpensive dress just incase. Wink

  • I've always wanted to!! Only if I can find the perfect short white dress though :)

  • Undecided.
I'm planning on being in my dress for the significant majority of the event -- and since it'll conclude around 11, we may go out after and celebrate some more somewhere else, so I'll change for that.

I actually found a perfect dress if I do need a "reception" dress. It's short, white with intricate and heavy white/sparkly beading all over, little cap sleeves and a high neckline. I'll at least use it as the rehearsal dress!

  • i doubt i will be changing but never know

  • I'm not. I couldn't spend any more money on another dress. I already feel bad for spending so much on my dress I already have to only wear once! I'm excited to wear my dress all night long! I made sure that it is easy to move in, so I can dance all night long :)

  • Nope, for me. I love my dress. I def want to wear it as long as I possibly can!

  • I don't think my dress will be comfortable but I don't care. I spent way too much on my dress to even consider changing and besides that, I don't think I would want to. There's only one day you can ever wear a dress like that and I want to enjoy every single second in it. I have a cathedral length train so even bustled dancing will be an issue but I'm just going to suck it up and drag it around the dance floor with me lol.

  • I'm picking up a fun white frock to wear if we go out afterward.  Something inexpesive and easy.

  • My dress was way too expensive to take it off after the ceremony, but I think I'm going to look for a cute LWD to wear out to the bars afterward - that is if we are in any condition to continue the night.

  • No,as my little sister bought it and I treasure it forever. But we are having an after-party later that night, so I will wear an appropriate dress for that.

  • Nope. Unless I find a cute LWD...and I'll prob only wear it for an after party.

  • You only wear this dress once.  Why would you want to get out of it?  I've heard people say they wore the dress as long as possible and that is what I plan to do.

  • Nope. I bought a comfortable dress for the whole day.

I've never seen it done at a wedding I've attended - just not something most people around here do, I think.  Even so, my dress is way to pretty to ever take off!!  I'm wearing it the whole night, as long as I can.  One of FI's groomsmen mentioned something about a tradition where the groomsmen "kidnapping" the bride and taking her on a little after-party round about the bars.  If that happens, I'll probably make them wait until I change into something comfortable, since there's no way I'm dragging my dress around a dirty bar!

  • I am, but I am not changing into a shorter dress or anything. I am actually changing into a Saree/Sari (a traditional/cultural garment). I didnt intend on doing so but my mom really wanted me to so I agreed. We actually purchased it over the weekend, boy are they expensive! I thought wedding dresses were bad haha.

  • Not sure - I never imagined that I would and it seems really unnecessary but when I was dress shopping I found a dress that is gorgeous and would be easier to dance in. I'm going to wait until closer to the date to decide.
