  You can't change your name until your marriage license is complete, which cannot be completed until your married. So, you'll have to wait and I think the requirements vary state to state. Search google.

  yea you cannot obtain your marriage lisc until after the wedding so you wont have proof until after

  I am in FL and have changed me name (and back) from my previous marriage.  brittandjp is right, you cannot do anything until you are actually married and have the recorded marriage license back.  Then go to your local Social Security office, after you change it there you can get a waiver to take to the dmv to do your license and registration.  Then just take your marriage license anywhere else you need to change your name, i.e. bank, school, etc.

  This is a really dumb question - but do you have to know what you want your name to be in order to get the license?  OR is it only when you go to change your name that you need to know?

  Thanks mari1217 that information was really helpful, I realized after i posted that I couldn't change it till after the wedding but the information you gave was most helpful.
