Foot Washing Ceremony?

As my wedding will be a Christian wedding, I think the symbolism of a foot washing ceremony would be really special to us - signifying laying down our personal dreams and serving each other. My mom isn't into the idea, because she's worried that it is too time-consuming and "not interesting" for the guests. However, I really feel that a wedding (at least the ceremony) is about each other, and the guests are just there to witness it. The reception is where they should be entertained, right? Would you guys please weigh in on this please?

Re: Foot Washing Ceremony?

  • My daughter is getting married and she and her fiancé are going to do this instead of lighting candles or pouring sand. I am very happy that they want to do this and have had fun hunting for just the right basin and pictures with my daughter. I don't care if its awkward or if the guests can't see good or if they don't understand. We will laugh our way through like we do in life. What an awesome thing it is that they want to start their marriage this way, serving each other as they follow Jesus!
  • I disagree. It's all about the two of you not if its awkward or people can't see. It's what the bride groom want. Period.
