Workout Accountability: Friday!

It's Friday! Thank goodness.

Last night I lifted and did the elliptical.  Then I went home and most likely ruined all of that by eating one too many chips. Ah well.
Tonight will be a 3-5 mile run and hopefully better food choices.

My weekend plans include mostly sleeping, but I plan on working out both Saturday and Sunday.  I also need to address/send out STD's.

  • TGIF!  Jude- get your rest this weekend :)

I did a 7 mile run last night which was not a good idea with my toe still hurting.  In my defense it didn't hurt that badly until AFTER I stopped running :/

I did a spin class this morning and I'm seriously considering skipping my long run tomorrow.  I'm supposed to do 10 miles, and next weekend I'm supposed to hop up to 15 so I feel like I need the miles to build up, but my toe is kinda broken.  Soooo.... I dunno what to do at this point.  Marathon is in 8 weeks!

Dude, skip the run. Seriously, you've got to take care of that toe!  Have you had it checked out at all?

  • Morning ladies!  Great job with the workouts!  I was a bum last night as part of my not rushing back into working out plan.  However, I did get more invitations addressed for my MOH's baby shower I am hosting, so it wasn't a total waste of an evening.

Medic, I think you should skip the run too.  It would be better to miss a few runs and let your toe heal than to keep exacerbating it and have trouble with your marathon.

My weekend plans include yoga and working on a project for the wedding. :)

  • Hey all!

So I was planning a 4-5 miler last night but between waiting for a non-craptastic treadmill to open up and then running on the craptastic one until the good one opened up, I wasted a lot of time.  I only got three miles in so I turned it into a speed workout.  Tonight I'm out with my coworkers so no exercising.  I'm hoping to go for a long run on Saturday outside pending snow.

Medic- I am having toe issues too!  It hurts and I wrap it while I run and it's fine then once I stop it kills.  It's my nail... even when it's cut short but it's super painful I have no idea what to do.  I'd skip the long run and if you feel you have to do a short one
  • Thanks for the push ladies- I did get x-rays last week & my big toe on my left foot is fractured.  I have been buddy taping it to my second toe for support.  I can walk on it & run on it too but 7 miles might have just been too much for it :(  It really didn't bother me much until right near the end and it was really painful after.  Oh well- at this point running on a broken toe is probably less detrimental than running with an awkward gait and jacking up my knee or IT band... so I'll take it easy(ish) this weekend and see how it feels next week.

Lbarr- do your toes go to the end of your shoe?  Or do you have a 1/2 inch between your toe & the shoe?  Maybe stop by a running specialty store this weekend & make sure your shoes are fitted properly.  You've been running long enough that they probably are ok for you, but they can probably bounce some ideas off you to get something that works (like different socks).  Good luck!

<div>Yeah I need to go back and get new shoes.  I think that's the issue.  I got them from a running company almost a year ago.  They are well over their miles.  I'm just a procrastinator.  I also need more socks.  It seems my dryer likes to eat all of my running socks and not regular socks.  :)</div>

Hah, you're brave!  I'd for sure fall on my ass with the snow we just got and I think it's supposed to get colder this weekend.

Safety pin your running socks together in pairs.  At least if your dryer eats them it will eat both and you'll still have an even number of socks!!
  • heyjude- I'm not that brave :(  I wil probably end up going on the treadmill if we get more like we did overnight, unless roads are clear enough where I can run on them.

medic-  That is probably the best idea ever.
  • Last night I ran 3 miles and did some upper body. I've been running consistently for 2 weeks and I'm def starting to see results in my hips & arms! That is enough to keep me going. Want to lose a few more lbs before my first fitting (2 weeks!) and then tone up. Tonight I think I'll take a rest day. My body hurts!

  • lynchaa -- Great job!  I'm glad you are seeing results!  That makes doing the workouts that much easier.  Enjoy your rest day!

  • Took last night off, been feeling a little burned out. Tonight I am going out for a friends birthday...I'm hoping we get home "early" enough so that I can at least exercise a little before going to bed. Definitely feeling pretty lazy the last couple of days.

  • Only Level 2, 30DS for me today--can't muster much else. Was up until 11:30 last night grading papers and was dragging all day at work. It felt good to sweat, though, even for just a little bit.  Expecting serious snow/ice tonight, so I think my early morning Zumba class will be canceled. I am predicting I will sleep in.

    Happy Friday night!!!

  • Hi ladies. I'm new and lurking but I wanted to let you know that your posts have inspired me to get off my butt. I've been trying (not very hard) to work up the motivation to go the Y tonight after skipping 2 days straight. I know I'll feel better after I go, but it's rallying to get off the comfy couch and go out in the cold that's holding me up... Thanks for the kick in the pants!
  • Last night was 90 minutes of P90x yoga and today was abs and back/legs!
Week two of P90x almost complete and I already feel stronger!

  • I ran a mile in 8:24 (which is really fast for me, I am NOT a strong runner!!), did Bob Harper's yoga for abs and day 2 of week 1 of ripped in 30! ...and then I ate pizza for dinner :/
  • Ran 3 miles today with the fiance yesterday! Bob Harper on the block for today!
