Hey ladies! I know there are a few of us using the Airport Marriott for our reception and I just wanted to update you on our experience this past weekend!! We had our food tasting, as well as the meeting with Jeannie about decor, and we met with Jackie to go over the room block stuff. This is a bit long but I thought it might be helpful for those using the Marriott or considering it!
Decor Meeting: Overall, everything was great! Both Jeannie and Jackie were great to work with. I am a bit overwhlemed though- you will go over SO much stuff in your decor meeting with Jeannie. (table linens, room setup, menu, and every single other detail you can think of!). I left there exhausted, so many decisions! Jeannie said we can get back to her soon though if we change our mind on anything. She also has a TON of pictures of the weddings they have had there so definitely ask to see them if you aren't sure about the room setup, cake and cookie table setup, linens, etc.
Tasting: We LOVED the tri-color tortellini that they offer for the first course. Definitely choosing that one. The ravioli with vodka sauce was also very good. Then we tried the roasted red pepper bisque and potato leek soup. Both were very good but we decided not to go with a soup as a course. Instead, we are going to serve the spinach and strawberry salad after the tortellini.
Then we tasted 4 entrees: the roasted sirloin, tilapia, chicken toscana, and chicken mediterranean. The tilapia was good but didn't stand out. The roasted sirloin was a bit bland. Both chicken options were really good, though we are going with the Mediterranean because the sauce on the toscana was similar to the tortellini that we are already serving. We still want to offer a beef option too so we're going to do the beef tenderloin instead of the sirloin. Jeannie said we can try that one at a later date.
Room Block: Jackie was really nice and took us to see both the standard guest room as well as the executive suite. As a bride and groom, we get the Junior suite for the night of the wedding, but that wasn't available for us to see. Both of the other rooms were really nice and I'm actually considering using the executive suite for the day-of since it was really spacious and I'll be having both hair and makeup done in the room. We also looked at the back of the restaurant as an option for a hospitality room. She quoted us $250 for the rental, and then you can bring in your own drinks and food. We're planning to do that the night before the wedding, since a lot of out of towners will be in and we can mingle with them after the rehearsal. She also gave us some pointers for the welcome bags and explained how those will be handed out to our guests to make sure everyone gets one.
