Greetings AAW Knotties !

I am fairly new to this website & just found this board very recently. I posted in the Roll/Call Welcome Board but just thought I would post here to say this seems like a very cool & active board. You ladies have a lot of great ideas to share.

    Msbdumas; 

    Me and FI both live in Houston, but neither of us have any family here ( both relocated here due to careers).  We are planning a destination wedding in New Orleans & we are very excited !  We love the city & I have been there numerous times. We love the culture, the food, especially the music. His family is originally from the NE & South. I am originally from the Midwest, so its a central location for everyone. 

     We went there for our first official  planning trip last month and have booked our reception venue and I have booked my DREAM photographer Studio Tran ! We are going back next month to finalize the ceremony location ( we have narrowed it down to 2 locations). 

    I am so excited that a place like this exists, I have gained so much knowledge in such a short amount of time.

    Our date is Saturday October 19, 2013

    We definitely want to be in the French Quarter & close to our reception venue. We have narrowed down the ceremony location to either Montegut House or New Orleans Irish Cultural Museum. We want to see them both before making a final decision.  Have you decided on your location yet ?

    I have an idea on colors but I want to decided on my ceremony spot first to make sure it doesn't clash or anything. For now the colors are Sage Green & Deep Violet.

    We are getting married in the city....meaning in New Orleans and our reception is going to be in Metairie...at Jefferson Orleans South. That is where we are going with right now. What reception venues have you all looked at?

    We looked at the Federal Ballroom, Royal Sonestra, Pharmacy Museum  and the Musee Conti Wax Museum.  We really liked the Musee Conti which is what we booked.
