Lyman Homestead/Jordan Caterers

I am a BM and wanted to suggest this place to the bride as she hasn't found a reception venue yet and asked for suggestions- any experience? Has anyone gotten a price quote?

FI and I interviewed them.  I do think they're reputable, but we didn't choose to go with them.  If you want me to give you my full opinion on them, PM me with your email.  I would hope that if they are the exclusive caterer there, they'd get the job done.  They are a very large catering company, so I think you'd be fine, but we just didn't like a lot of their business practices when we met with them and felt like we were treated like a number rather than a client paying them good money for a service.  They also asked what our top budget was, (so we assumed they'd stay within that) and then they gave us a quote that was about $6000 more.  Comparatively, their price (for less food) was more than double the caterer we went with.   You should probably meet with them and see what you think though.  I have talked to people that had good experiences with them.

We met with them as well, and I agree with the being treated like a number comment. I didn't like that you pay so much to use the venue, yet don't really get to use the house at all. They can't cook in the house so you have to rent a commercial cooking tent in addition to the reception tent. We also didn't like that the lawn they use for the tents was not only sloped but very close to the road. I was also quoted $6-8 for bare bones reception. I really wanted a dance floor for the tent, and that shot up the price to over $11k!! I was very much not impressed, and we told them no that day. Like the prev post said, they do seem reputable and I've seen some positive reviews, but I felt you get next to nothing for the amount you pay.

Payon20, I got your PM, but you didn't leave me your email!  I previously wrote a review on Jordan's, but it's kinda long.  Would be better to email to you.  So, send me your addy! :-)  As for your question about keeping it under $100/pp, let me see if I can find the qoute I got from them... and I'll email you that info also.

My mom used Jordan Caterers for our Engagement Party last year and she said she had a great experience with them. We also live in Cheshire, so I'm not sure if she knew someone there or what the deal was, but she said she liked them after using them in the past before they got so huge.

FI and I didn't get to eat much of the food at the e-party because we were so busy, but what we did get to eat was really good. As far as price, I have no idea since my mom took care of it, but I do remember her saying it was kinda pricey when all was said and done. I know their food is great, everyone at the party raved about the food and there was nothing left at the end, but what Carrie (akulaji) is saying about price sounds correct because my mom definitely mentioned that they were pricey. If you fell in love with the venue and they only exclusively work with Jordans then I can assure you that your food will be amazing, but it sounds like if you choose a different venue, you could save a lot on your catering bill.

Akulaji-I am emailing you now! Thank you!

Salamandy-11K for the reception without food? Just for venue rental &tents? Yikes!
