ASKING BRIDESMAIDS TO BE IN WEDDING...

Hi Ladies!
I wanted to plan a formal way to ask my girls to be in my wedding. I was thinking of having a brunch with them all there so I can ask them all at the same time.
I was trying to think of ways to ask...
Was thinking of some sort of gift bag with some token gifts and a cute/funny poem enclosed asking them to be my bridesmaids. But beyond that, I'm stumped!

Would love to know what you all out there in "knotland" may have done to help me get my creative juices flowing!

I took mine out to dinner - individually - and asked. I didn't want them to feel pressure to say yes - and if you have them all in a group - I think (if for any reason they were to say no - money reasons, etc.) they might feel uncomfortable.

Although all my 'maids pretty much knew I was going to ask them (family and super close friends) I put together gift bags and got them each a tank that said Bridesmaid on it. They are all planning on wearing them when we get ready that day

My friends and sister know they will be in the wedding, I just want to formally ask them in a memorable way.

I did a silly thing - I got a "Bridelizza vodo" doll and put it in a gift bag with some chocolate and a nice card. So it was a good laugh and something nice at the same time.

I definitely wouldn't ask them as a group. Being a BM can be a time and financial commitment and it's not great to put a bunch of people on the spot in front of each other.

Hi! I would have to agree with banana468. What I did was I bought "Would you be my Maid of Honor?" "Would you be my Bridesmaid?" "Would you be my Flower Girl" cards online. I think it was from Greeting Card Universe and sent them to my whole party. Of course, everyone accepted. I thought that it was formal enough. I received calls from each of them once they received the card. I thought it was a cute idea.

For my MOH and BM gifts they are getting cute little gift bags full of things including MAC makeup, Swarovski crystal jewelry for the big day, etc.

the only advice I have it to ask them individually instead of in a group. I think it would be more meaningful one on one, and less pressure.

Aw, I feel lame, I didn't do anything cutesy like this....I just called everyone up in my engagement excitement and asked them right then and there when I told them. Everyone accepted of course, and I'm going to get them really nice gifts. PPs have great ideas

I didn't do anything cutesy either. I thought about it- then didn't do it hahaha. I also asked mine all individually. Two I took out to dinner (cos they live here) separately- and the other two I asked them while they were here from Ohio visiting. I just couldn't think of a non-awkward way besides that. I kept thinking, well what if I hand them a card. Then I have to sit there and wait until the open it? Why not just tell them what I'd put in the card. I'm hoping others have better ideas than I had!

that's a cute idea...i got all my girls tank tops that say bridesmaid and maid of honor and i gave it to them in a gift bag...this way they get something that they can wear for the bachelorette party or whenever they want.

Ok I have to disagree a little on asking as a group. I am super close to all of my BM's & almost all of them know they will be in our wedding. They are either close family, really close friends or my future SIL's. I haven't asked "officially" yet but do planning on doing something cute similiar to what the girls have posted.

I am definitely getting them bridesmaid tanks. The thought has also crossed my mind to get those really creative wine glasses with each girls initial on them. I would also like to write them a really nice card expressing how much I love them & would love for them to stand up with us on our wedding day with the BM poem on there & a MOH one as well.

If you are pretty sure everyone will say yes, I also do not see anything wrong with doing it in a group. If you aren't sure about everyone (for money reasons or what not) then I would do it individually.

If you do it as a group and go out to dinner, maybe you could have a cake made that says something like "Will you be my bridesmaids?" and have the server bring it out at the end as a surprise.

Other than that, I've got nothing. I also wish I had done something cutesy when I asked my girls.
