Low pressure bridal salons?

I've been looking around online and have some ideas of the type of dress I'd like, but I'd like to get out and start checking some dresses out in stores. The idea of all these high-pressure, commission-hungry salespeople is a big turnoff for me; I'm not the type of person that likes people fawning all over me or breathing down my neck, I like to be able to look around and if I have questions, I'll ask. Does anyone have recommendations for any bridal salons that aren't so pushy and high pressure? Or am I just asking too much? hahaha. If it helps at all in your recommendations, I have a $1,500 budget (preferably including alterations). I'm open to the outter boroughs as well. I appreciate any feedback!

I've had a lot of people recommend the Bridal Garden. The dresses are all donated by the designers and the money goes to a charter school for girls in Brooklyn.

I've also been told to go to Macy's on 34th Street. I was there one night and the sales lady let me look around for a while.

Thank you for the suggestions, mcjays. I normally can't stand the madness of Macy's, but they are probably a good place to at least start looking around.

The floor that the bridal salon is on is also where the registry department is so it's less crazy than the other places. And the woman said that the gowns start at $700.

Oh! and I went to a trunk show at Lovely Bridal in the W. Village a month ago and when I'm ready to start looking at dresses I'm definitely going there.

I got my dress at Lotus Bridal in Brooklyn. It might be a trek out there and parking isn't great in the area. My dress came to around your budget with alterations. It's run by two sisters, Wendy and Katie, so there isn't that feel that someone is looking at you for their commission and they definitely are not the high-pressure type. It's worth looking into!
