NWR: Is it wrong that I find this selfish?

During mass, when the congregation is invited to add their own intentions to the intersessions, there are certain people who say things that I think are kind, and then selfish... example: "To bring back all fallen away Catholics, especially members of my own family..."
I know it's good to pray for individuals as well as the masses, but I guess to me I don't know why it can't just end with "To bring back all fallen away Catholics" and not adding the "especially" piece at the end.
Am I a jerk for thinking this EVERY week when I hear this one coming from a member of our congregation (always the same person, said every week)?
Praying for a miracle!

[QUOTE] Until recently I had never seen this done because I always attended larger parishes where everyone just added their intentions silently.

That's how it's done at my home parish. The names of the Sick and the Dead are read from the book of intentions, and then the deacon adds "For all the other prayers, still deep in our hearts, we take a silent moment" or "in the silence of your own heart, add your special intention" </div>
