Outdoor elopement

Hello all,
My groom and I recently found out that having a full wedding is put of the question, and have decided on a mountain view outdoor elopement. However, this means that the dresses I have been looking at are also out of the question, as hiking around in a big ball gown might be treacherous. I was hoping that some one good give me some ideas on some dresses or styles that might be a little more fitting for an elopement. Also our date is in October in Northern Virginia on Skyline Drive. Any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated!

Re: Outdoor elopement

  • Can you get someone to carry you dress up the mountain for you & change when you get there...lol.

But seriously I would say go tea length or shorter because you can change shoes when you get to the spot so you are comfortable and safe getting there but will have cute shoes for pics (but for fun get some pics w/hiking boots too). With the location going vintage might be a good route too for style. Something too modern and formal I think would be out of place for your location. You may be able to find a nice lace dress, maybe even long, but make sure you'll be able to lift it up as not to drag & possible ruin the dress on the trail & that you can walk comfortably holding the dress up.

I love the location you have picked/
  • i'm having an outdoor wedding in a public park (we're eloping to new orleans city park) and we're having a picnic reception.  this put my first dress out, but i found a short, flirty dress that i love!  it's not as bulky as my original pick and i feel it's more in the spirit of outdoors.
