"Photography Sales tax??"

Hi Everyone, I am just wondering if other brides are paying sales tax, I have a friend that has been interviewing differnt photographers and some charge and some dont... and is it even legal to charge?! Please Help. thank you!

    I paid sales tax.  It was only on part of it though.

    By law they Have to charge it for products but not services... so some percent but maybe not all.

    I'm pretty sure I paid it. And I only have the photography services and a DVD of all the images (no prints or albums).
  • "LEGALLY" you should only be charged sales tax on TANGIBLE items and NOT services.

    I just sent my photographer an email asking why she is charging me sales tax on the entire package cost and because I have extensive background knowledge on sales and use taxes here, I pulled some links and sent those with the email to her so she can read for herself. Photographers should know that ANY and ALL sales tax collected by them MUST be reported and turned over to the state in which they charged them.  If they have a business and have done their research they should k now that already but some photographers may be more caught up in the actual act of photographing that they have no idea what charging sales tax and reporting it even means.
