Averages... Where do you fall?

Looks like i'm VERY close on most of this... The only things that are substantially off:
Engagement ring cost was more
Overall wedding cost (though it's really only a few key points that make up that big difference... ie venue says 12k, mine is 2k)
catering (i think we are paying like $15 per person)
honeymoon will be WAAAAAY less than that. LOL

But even things riht down the engagement length and average ages of the bride/groom are almost spot on. LOL. Weird.

Re: Averages... Where do you fall?

  • Well, engagement was about right. Says 14mnths, ours is 13. My engagement ring was less than that, FI and I are far from 30. Lol. Well, we'll be 24 & 25. Our catering is $45pp, reception venue only about $2,000, our cake is $250. They said the avg wedding price is $27k without honeymoon. Our is less than that, INCLUDING the honeymoon. Our honeymoon isn't nearly that much.

  • def off for most expensive places in the country. NJ is usually one of the most expensive on others I've seen. I wish I could get those prices!
  • On the engagement part most of it was off except 2 which was they groom proposing and we did get engaged in December. As far as the wedding part the BP was right age is a little off I will be 24 FI will be 30. Guest count way off lol . Wedding budget was off by far my over budget is 13k pssshhh I think I would die if I spent 26k!!! Also things are cheaper in the South... The honeymoon destinations are somewhat accurate too...

  • The financial parts are way high for us, except for the ceremony, dress, and hm, lol mainly because we have a ton of hook ups from people we know that are doing things for cheap. Ring was only like 1k, got engaged in March. Age is way off... we will be 23 and 25. Length of engagement is right on. I couldn't imagine spending 26k either! After everything I think we will be around 12-15k. Interesting find pjb!

  • I'm very low compared to most of the averages lol. Yay for living in Minnesota lol!

  • Our engagement is longer. My ring cost less. We have a larger BP. We're both younger. Our overall cost is more. Our honeymoon is more & we're going away for longer.

  • Only places we match is he proposed and 14 month engagement.
My E Ring was a tenth of the "average." I would kill him if he had spent that much..
The wedding will cost much less and be much larger than the average. But we're weird and we like it :)

  • We will have been engaged for 18 months, marrying at 24. Proposal was in November. We will have a lot more guests but our total cost should be under 27k. Numbers looks pretty close for wedding cost- our catering per person is less than the avg. Our HM budget for Hawaii is way more than $4500 and we will be going for more than 8 days.

  • We're probably going to end up somewhere in between the national average and the Massachusetts average (where we're getting married). Most of the non-cost info is off (22 month engagement, we will be 26 and 27, longer honeymoon, 3 bridesmaids/groomsmen, proposal in August, etc.). Most of the costs are spot on for the things we are doing (we aren't having a band, wedding planner, videographer, or ceremony musicians).

Overall I think it's a pretty accurate infographic for the traditional "big white wedding" in a city or suburb of a major metropolitan area.
  • Yeah, I dont fall into pretty much ANY of those budget categories. The closest would be the ring and the honeymoon.

  • I can't give you exacts, because I'm on my work computer (being naughty!) but I can guesstimate. I don't know what my e ring was, but our engagement is a few months shorter than the average. I am 28 and my ggroom is 30, so that's a bit of a creepy average, and we'll be 29 and 31 on our wedding day. On the nosey!

We haven't written out too many checks so far, but the venue is WAY less than average, photog is a little cheaper, flowers are way cheaper (I'm growing my own BM bouquets and only having a bridal bouquet), and our catering is a wee bit more expensive.

  • We are well older than the averages.  I am 35 and he will be 44 (first marriage for both of us).  Catering is a little more but venue is much less ($1000).  We are trying to keep it under 100 people.  Definitely spending much less on decor as that is not a big priority for me.  I just want to have a fun party!  Engagement will be 12 months and overall cost will hopefully be about half that.  My Mom is the ceremony musician so that is free and we aren't having a videographer.

    Ditto.

My ring will cost about $1200 - he mined the gold years ago from our home state and it's a full custom from a friend that's made my jewelry for years. Our wedding bands are also full custom. We're having one attendant each, 60ish people.

  • Average per guest is $194 on that site. Low for DC!
  • We are pretty close on most of these..I am 29 he will be 30, our reception is gonna be around 13k, cake well cupcakes are 600, and honeymoon is about 4k. In some we were lower and higher...way more on the dress and less on the dj and photog but we got lucky and are using friends/family who are professionals. Kinda puts it into perspective though! Good to know I'm not blowing way more money than the average person

  • I'm happy to say that we're pretty close to the regional average- we're getting married in Mass.  Honestly, want to go to like Arkansas to get married... sheesh!  FSIL is getting married in NY- thought her 80k wedding was completely outrageous, but apparently that's normal there... no way... I still think it's crazy... I'd just elope.

  •  Luckily I live in Missouri and we have the lowest cost of living like anywhere. My wedding will be far lower than this.
** I don't believe that old cliche that good things come to those who wait. I think good things come to those who want something so bad they can't sit still **
  • We will both be 32 on our wedding day. Our entire wedding budget, including honeymoon will be under $27k (yay for lower averages living in the South!). I think the invite list will be close to accurate.

Other than that, it's all over the place.
