Favors

would you keep this?

my FI and i are both graphic designers but i do photography and he does painting in our own time too. so for our favors we were thinking that i would pick one of my photos and he would pick one of his paintings and we would print them out in a 4x6 photo size and get little frames from ikea to frame them. we each would contribute a picture so couples can get one image from each of us. we were thinking the artwork would be nature themed.

is this something you would keep? it seems like a lot of favors get left behind. it takes some work to print everything out and frame them and wrap ribbon around them and i totally don't mind doing this if i knew people would like this and take them home. i was thinking an edible favor too like chocolate or mints but it doesn't seem as personal for us.

I think a better idea would be to do that for your table numbers.  Make a photograph or painting a framed table number.  That way, if someone would like to take it they could, you are still incorporating a part of yourselves, but instead of doing 100+ framed pictures you only have to do 10 or so. And do chocolate for the favors which everyone will enjoy.

I agree with the table numbers too.  I think it's a really nice idea and guests will probably be very interested in your artwork and photography, but not enough to hang it on their wall at home.

Maybe not.  People's choice in the art that they use in their homes is very personal.  Artwork that I love, another person wouldn't dream of having in their home.

I would recommend against putting all the time, effort, and $$ into this.  I like the PP suggestion to use your work for table identifiers if necessary.

Why not print your artwork to wrap the chocolate or mint boxes. Best of both worlds :o)

I think that's a nice idea.  I would take it and either put it in my house or in a scrapbook.

As a bride and creative person...I LOVE the idea!!  As a guest...not so much!  If you still want each person to get a piece of your work, instead of table numbers, what about using it as the place cards?  Each person or couple will get one then go find their table.  The table number might be another one.  But I would do this on something like business sized cards, or maybe 3x4 ish, and not spend all the time and money on frames.  Or, you could still do it that way and hope people take the frame, knowing they probably won't keep the picture...which is probably like what you said, but I wouldn't .  candy is always a it, and I would stick with that.  I love how you want to throw yourself into it, just decorating other's houses is probably not the way to do it.

I like the idea, but I would hate for you to waste your time.

Maybe this would be better for rehearsal dinner favors.  Family and close friends are the ones who would want/keep those pictures.  We have quite a few wedding guests who would leave something like that behind.
