Centerpiece ideas

I've been super indecisive about centerpieces these past few months. I can't afford to hire a florist and want to keep it as cheap as possible.  I don't want to pack glass vases, if I can find them in oahu for cheap I suppose I can add another errand to my list of things to do when I get there. It'd be nice to have something just shipped there to my family friends house, but I'm realizing shipping is crazy. I think i'll have 10 tables, yesterday I bought these round candle trays from michaels that I can arrange candles and rocks on, but im going back and forth on that idea now too. blahhh. Any suggestions are appreciated :)

I have some different ones in my bio!  I decided to go with flameless candles, groups of 3 with different beach themed chocolates surrounding them on sugar on the raw for "sand".  Completely edible and an extra favor for the guests.  I got all the flameless candles for 75% and the sugar was on sale.  Bought the molds online on a deal and now I just need to get the chocolate!  I'll be putting them on mirror tiles though because I want the extra effect of the light hitting the mirror.  GL

We're having a similar problem too.  I thought I had it all planned and then he decides he likes the colorfulness of flowers. ugh...

I don't like that flowers are in essence wasted after the wedding.  They're all cut down for beauty and then they die.  I don't judge anyone that uses them...they are pretty.  I just hate to pay for and then waste them.  In this area, I like more eco-friendly option.

We thought we were going to get small vases, pack them with some river rock and fill it with water and lucky bamboo (maybe the spiral ones) then surround them with tea lights. Perfect...it has an earth, water, and fire element to it and our theme is Asian-inspired so I thought it worked.

I found some 4" heart shaped vases at Ross for $2.99. I think most people here on Oahu shop at Flora-Dec though if you're in a pinch for time like you might be if you're going to do it when you get here. We don't have a Michael's on island (which sucks) but Flora-Dec has every shape, size, and color of vase you could imagine. They also sell the flameless candles and other things you might need.  I've heard (but haven't actually checked on it yet) that the bamboo is dirt cheap in Chinatown.

You could also do a candy filled vase at the center of the table.  Different candies at each table then the guests can pick at them, make take home baggies like a candy-buffet...I thnk this is inexpensive and could even kill two birds with one stone if you wanted.  No need for favors or token thank you gifts.

    HTH a little at least...

Oooh I love the candy idea! We're kinda going with an asian fusion theme (not too much though) so the bamboo would be cute! I just don't want to stress out trying to accomplish it all in the 1.5 days we have before the wedding. I'll definitely remember Flora dec though! I wish oahu had the dollar tree, they have vases that work fine for me. As of tonight I've ordered 3 various sized flameless candles from amazon (Free shipping!) for $8.50 and will test those out at home and if they look good with my candle tray and rocks, we'll have em sent to our friend in HI from amazon.
