Kinda TMI vent

Sorry I just have to let this out because I'm so annoyed. So I'm a sophomore at school and have been living here almost 2 years. I decided to do my annuals out here at Planned Parenthood since I get them in October I couldn't easily go home. Well I've been less than thrilled with PP. They've lost my paperwork, messed up insurance, you name it. Well I went in to get checkout and found out I had bacterial vaginosis. I got medicine and it was like the bare minimum. Well it didn't go away and I went back in. The medicine I got for my first infection caused a yeast infection. She only gave me one pill! It wasn't going away so I went to a new practice. I got plenty of medicine and it's finally cleared up. Today I went to PP to get my birth control. I've never had to pay for it because of my income then my insurance covers it and visits. Well today she asked for my prescription card. I said I've never had to pay a co-pay because of my income. So she asks if my insurance covers my BC. I told her I have a prescription card but would have to call my mom for the info. She pretty much ignored me and made me sign up for title 19 insurance. I was like well if I bring my insurance card info in can you not file this. She said it'd void the state insurance. Then asked if I had a pay stub. I said no I brought it in in October though. She was like well I need that or you need to pay full price for your BC. I was so pissed. I told her I'm done with dealing with PP and switching doctors and left. I called my mom and turns out they're charging more to my insuracne than if I'd go to a regular doctor! Now I'm trying to see if I need to do another annual exam to get BC from my new doctor. God I'm so annoyed!!!!

  • You probably will need another annual unless, you can get the results from this one and give them to the new doctor.

Yeah I figured I'm waiting to hear back from the new doctor and hoping my insurance covers it
  • If your insurance is anything like mine (Blue Cross and Blue Shield), they probably won't cover it. I have to go for my annual on the exact day or later that I went the previous year or my insurance won't cover it and I have a really good plan.

Was it the yeast infection that she just gave you one pill for? With that, you only need one pill and it (should) clear up.

I have 2 insurances and Blue Cross Blue Shield is my secondary. They gave me one pill for the yeast infection but the new Dr I saw said she didn't think one pill fully cleared it so she gave me 2
  • If you explain to a new doctor what happened they should be able to get your results and write you a birth control prescription.

I'm hoping PP can just fax over my file...that is if they didn't lose it again
  • I have a plan through BCBS and my BC isnt covered either. your doc should be able to tell you where you can get your bc cheap. I pay 9.99 a month for mine at walmart. I think Costco was another place I could get it super cheap. You should never have to pay more than that with genetic versions out there!!

  • Yea...I pay $10 at Target.
  • Well I heard back from the doctor and I need to fax my file over for them to take a look at and see if they can just write a prescription. A few months ago PP lost my file then found it so I'm hoping they have everything. I'm also gonna get a copy for myself just to be safe
  • When I had a yeast infection I just ate some yogurt and that cleared it up. A lot cheaper than going to the doctor to get on medicine!

  • Eat yogurt or take acidophilus to help with yeast infections. The antibiotics they gave you were probably strong and wiped out your normal good bacteria causing the yeast infection. I always have yogurt when I'm on antibiotics. Good luck switching doctors!

I tried eating more yogurt but it just did not help
  • That is crappy! Sorry that happened. I hope they can just write your Rx and you don't have to mess with it again.
