RD Question

Our venue only allows us to have the place for 8 hours, so the previous day, the WP, family & Me are going to decorate the venue (Not chairs, tables, things like that). Problem is we have to do it from 10am-2pm and do the rehersal in the same time limit. Would it be okay to do a rehersal lunch OR should I do a dinner?

I think it'd be better to do a rehearsal lunch, that way people don't have to dedicate their entire day to your rehearsal. I'd rather do lunch right after and then have the evening to myself than have the rehearsal, sit around for 6 hours and then finally eat.

If this is on a weekday, be prepared for people to be unable to attend due to work.

It wouldnt bother me doing a rehersal lunch, cheaper for you too!!

I like the idea of it, just didn't know if it was ideal.
It's on a friday, most of my WP is out of town so they will be flying in that Thrusday. So I think most of them will be here

Right now it wouldn't hurt to be a little cheaper for me either,but don't want to give them any reason to think I'm trying to be cheap. Just thought it would be better to do. :)

If I were a guest at your rehearsal I would prefer a dinner only because if it were a lunch I would have to take the entire day off of work, if it were a dinner I could leave an hour or so early instead.

I think if you're doing your rehearsal sometime between 10 am and 2pm a lunch would work much better.

I don't mean this to sound snarky at all. If you were a guest at my rehearsal you would already have taken that day off, unless you worked after 2pm.

Can you do the rehearsal somewhere else later in the evening and then have a dinner? That way you can utilize all of your time on Friday to decorate, and those who are local won't have to miss work. In my experience, the rehearsal has more to do with making sure people know who they are walking with and when to walk.

Well we would be decorating from 10 am to 12:30 and have the run through from 12:30 - 2pm. I'm not sure it would take that long to run through it a couple of times though, or would it?

I'm not to sure about another location to rehearse. I would love it though, then I wouldn't feel so rushed to get decorating done. I could asked my MOH since she is way more familiar with the place then I am. . . Now I am on another mission! Thanks :)

I think it would be easier to do a lunch. Everyone I can think of, that's in the wedding or that is coming to help decorate, already has the day taken off. My OOT guest will be here Thrusday before the rehearsal. That only leaves one person out of the WP that wont be there. . . Would it be wrong to go ahead with her?

Do lunch. If everyone is going to be there for rehearsal anyway it seems pointless to make them sit around another 4 hours just for a dinner.

I think lunch would be fine. That way everything gets done all at once and they (and you) have the evening before the wedding to relax.
