Help - Info on Reception Venues

There are a few of venues that I've recently come across but haven't been able to find much feedback from other brides-to-be/brides or on the web.

Does anyone know about the following reception venues: The Palisadium and Villa Almafi in Cliffside Park, Valley Regency in Clifton, Royal Manor in Garfield, The Restaurant in Hackensack, Costa Del Sol in Union.

I can't tell if these are hidden gems or there's no feedback b/c they are awful. Thanks!

When I was searching for venues I did visit Valley Regency.  It was okay...I wasn't a big fan of the main room (personal taste).  I heard the food was good and they give you a lot of it!

It's so funny because no matter what we say, you have to go to a place yourself because so many things are personal taste.  There are venues on here that people rave about, yet I've been to weddings there and they haven't been good.  I was stressing over finding my venue so much because each place was nice, but I didn't get that "Wow this is my place!" feeling.
Originally, I was looking for a beach-themed wedding, but then thought twice because of traffic and distance, etc.  I went to a few places around northeast new jersey with appointments, and liked, but didn't love any of them.  It's so crazy how different venues look online vs. in real life.  Again, lots of things will be personal preference.
With that said, you will know when it's the right venue.  I didn't think I'd get the feeling, but I did when I stepped into the Valley Regency.  It was everything we wanted.  Beautiful outdoor ceremony space/gardens, one event at a time, huge ballroom with a unique oval shaped dance floor.  I got the "Wow this is my place!" feeling right away.  Afterwards, we looked at one more place that knotties on this site raved about, and knew it wasn't right for us.  I asked around, and have heard nothing but great reviews about Valley Regency.

@vanillaxsuga - I completely understand it's just that most of the boards I've seen highly recommend the same venues like Tides and The Seasons but I haven't really seen anything mentioned about these venues.

That's so funny that you say that because those are the two venues I was talking about disliking.  I never went to a wedding at Seasons, but my mom has and loved the food and really I went to see it for her.  Just was nothing special to me.
I went to a wedding at Tides and really did not care for it.  The place was beautiful, food wasn't bad, but it was more of a service issue (bartenders and wait staff).  So don't worry I totally understand what you are going through!
I don't have any information about The Royal Manor, only that one of my colleagues booked her wedding there a month ago, so obviously she loved it.

My parents have gone to charity events at Palisadium ... they said it was nice, but the food was underwhelming. Maybe it's different for weddings?

I've eaten at Villa Amalfi, and I liked the food, but this was years ago (and this was just dinner, not an event). From what I remember, no grounds or view.

Out of those places, we checked out Costa Del Sol. Personally, it was not our cup of tea whatsoever..however there have been girls here who loved the place, so you really need to see it yourself, because we all have different tastes.

    Hi,

I am getting married at The Valley this coming October and so far I can say that they have been nothing but helpful and accommodating.  It was very important to me that I have the entire place to myself for the day.  The Valley will offer this to you.  If you take a look at the menu you will see that they offer you an insane amount of food for  you and your guests.  Food was extremely high on my priority list and from the tasting that I  had it is very good. I also think you get a lot of bang for your book.  They were very willing to work within my budget and even threw in the Viennese.  I just called them last week and they are letting my wedding party come hours before the reception to use their grounds for our "first look" before our church ceremony.

I have been to a wedding at the valley regency and thought the food was really good!  Lol I am getting married at the Tides for us we just loved the venue and the gardens.  We are getting married outside so that was a big thing for us we needed a really nice outdoor space.  Plus we had a tasting before we booked and loved the food.  I have heard nothing but great things about it.

I visited Costa Del Sol in Union and The Palisadium. Costa del Sol was okay. Their rooms are pretty nice, but i just felt like it was missing something.  We met with the owners son, he was soooo kind and sooo welcoming. Their prices weren't bad either and they're willing to work with you as far as food - meaning if you have a traditional dish you want, you just let them know in advance and they would prepare it for you.

We also visited The Palisadium. The view from their main room is ABSOLUTELY STUNNING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! BEAUTIFUL!!!! Their menu selection was disappointing for the amount of money they wanted. As well their customer service was not the best.

I also booked with the Tides and am getting married there in 4 weeks!! We loved the gardens and are having the ceremony outside. But I fell in love with them right away and knew it was the place immediatley! I don't live far from Costa Del Sol and thought it was just okay. My friend booked her wedding at Royal Manor for this July and have had nothing but nice things to say about the place and people they have been working with. You should just make an appoitment to see these places. You will know when you find the right place!
