staying in shape.. crunch time!

since i haven't been active on the boards in the past few months i apologize if this is a repeat post. what are you ladies doing to stay in shape for the big day?! i have always been athletic.. i run a lot but recently i have found myself just pigging out on the worst foods ever (strawberry poptarts are my latest weakness). with the wedding (and honeymoon!!) coming up so soon i really want to be in my best shape ever. i have been running and doing kettlebell routines. share your fitness secrets with me! and any tips on how to stay motivated?

  • Yep...I keep looking at pictures of me in my wedding dress and remembering that there is ZERO wiggle room in my dress! lol.

    Seriously, that is part of what I do.  The bigger motivator I have though is my Fi and I signed up to do the warrior dash this summer, and that will require being in great shape, so that's the ultimate goal I'm working towards.  IDK if you're familiar with the warrior dash, but it's like a 5K obstacle course, so endurance, upper and lower body strength are required to finish the course.  That way, I can't slack off after the wedding. :)  Plus, you get a badass Viking helmet and you are rewarded with a beer and a turkey leg after the race (FI is excited about the hat).

    I usually eat pretty healthy, so I haven't altered my diet too much, I just try to keep my calories to about 14-1500 a day and I cut out alcohol and carbonated drinks for most days to cut down belly bloat.  My Fitness Pal is a fantastic tool for tracking workouts and what you eat (and it's free!).

    Strawberry poptarts=devil.  I can't start on them or I won't stop.

  • I joined a gym a few weeks ago and have been enjoying it.  Something I've been meaning to do for a long time and not doing just for the wedding.  I've also been trying to eat more lean protein and whole grains and cut out the starches and fried/fatty stuff.  I'm already seeing results when I step on the scale and my clothes are feeling a little looser :-)
    Whoever said it was supposed to be happily ever after is a big fat liar.

  • I'm getting more and more stressed about my weight. I have a fitting this Sunday after the alterations and I'm praying it goes well. I'm not obese by any means, but a girl can still worry.

    I don't want to look like a chub! I feel like my arms and face always look fatty! But I'm going to keep trying my best to stay away from all the crap food that screams my name. LOL!

  • I'm definitely feeling the crunch time!! I've been doing a hybrid of two beachbody.com programs - TurboFire and ChaLean Extreme. I will probably switch it up to some Jillian Michaels workouts a few weeks before the wedding. I haven't lost anything yet (both in inches and on the scale), but there's not much I want to lose - 10 lbs at the MOST. It has been frustrating though, because I've been sticking to my calorie limit in myfitnesspal, and working out 5-6 days/week...my mom (a nurse) thinks the lack of results could be due to stress. I might try going lower on the carbs and higher on protein for a little bit to see if that helps kick my results into gear.

  • Confession #1: I'm taking these diet pills that I took over the summer and helped me lose around 25lbs before my body got used to them and I stopped taking them. (Then got lazy and ate like crap and gained it back.) So far I've lost 10 lbs.

    Confession #2: I got a groupon the other day for smart lipo and I bought it. :X  I've ALWAYS had problems with my arms and considered lipo before, but never had the courage or the money. No matter what I did exercise & diet wise, my arms were always big. Turns out it was a good thing I wasn't able to do so in the past - technology has caught up to my pocket and this is minimally invasive and very little downtime. I've heard it's called lunchtime lipo lol

    As far as exercise, I have a few different dance Kinect games and I love Zumba. It's fun, and I get great results. And I stopped eating all the crap I was eating before that caused me to regain all I had lost over the summer.

  • Fae, how much was the smart lipo, if you don't mind me asking? Are you doing it soon?


    I'm on WW and I run 3-4 times a week. I'm also constantly on the go so I feel like I get a lot of exercise running around the office making copies and faxes (in heels!), so I just stick to my daily points target and go to the meetings regularly.

  • em, the groupon was for 1499 for any large area, regularly 5500. How could I say no? lol I'm doing it Wednesday. It was such a good deal, one of my BMs is doing her inner thighs too.
