low key, original, Massachusetts!

Ok Ladies!

I've been looking and looking! to no avail I may add!

My guy and I are very low key and if we could find a back yard somewhere we would... so my question is...

Where in MA or surrounding New England areas can we find a venue that
a. has a low key, outdoorsy vibe, b. lets you bring in your own food and beer/wine, and c. has the option to play games like cornhole and other outdoor activities

guest list is 125 or hopefully lower and budget... not quite sure, but on the lower end of New England standards (I know avg rate is 30K).

Would love some suggestions!!

I had originally thought of something like that and found this place, I believe they only do daytime to early evening but may be worth looking at.

Also I never looked at these two barns but had found them in a search and I believe they are basically just like hall rentals and you do your own stuff.

Here are some estate rentals we looked at too, not sure on the rules for each of them.

    Good luck!

I've been to the Holliston barn, it is very laid back feeling but is really cute! The event I went to had it decked out in white christmas lights and it was very pretty.

You can bring in your own caterer there as well as alcohol.

We got married at Codman Estates in Lincoln, MA (clicky), which is part of Historic New England.

We LOVED it there - the ceremony site is really beautiful and unique.  We had cornhole, bocce and croquet set-up for guests during cocktail hour.

You have to use one of their preferred caterers (Tastings was amazing), but you CAN bring in your own beer / wine, etc.

Love, love, love the Phoenix Room in Newburyport. It's also very reasonably priced, you can have the ceremony on the water and Newburyport is such a great destination with easy access for out of town guests. Capacity is 120 though, but you can do it if you trim back your list a bit!

the commons and the phoenix room do not allow you to bring your own food, but you can bring your own alchohol to the commons.  topsfield is a dry town, so theyre not allowed to sell it there.

Bourndale Functions in Plymouth...although you cant bring your own food...if you decide to stay over you can bring your own liquor for the bonfire and you have the whole place to yourself for the entire evening.

Not sure if you can bring your own food, but my friend got married at the Sturbridge Host Hotel and it is right on a lake. Although, she didn't have that type of wedding, there were other parties and reunions that we're having volleyball tournaments, various games, and boating activities. Some of my friends borrowed kayaks the next morning and went around the lake for free. They also have a lot of hotel rooms, so guests can stay right on property and there's a bar in the lobby for an after-party. Just another thought. :)
