Being ahead on planning is biting me in the ass

I was thinking I was really on top of things until the past 2 weeks or so.  In that time, my stylist decided she didn't want to give up a holiday weekend to do hair for the wedding, and the photographer just came back with an astronomical quote, so we're back to square one on finding a reasonably-priced photographer.  Just wondering what is going to go wrong next.

We're going bridesmaid dress shopping next week.  Really hoping that doesn't turn into a disaster.

  • Oh poo! Hopefully the stylist will refund your deposit if you had to put one down :-(

What photographer did you get the quote from? Mine's pretty reasonable and does great work if you want to look elsewhere :-)

  • No deposit with the styilist, but she was going to be super cheap to do the whole wedding party, so I probably won't be able to find another that cheap.

The photographer was the son-in-law of one of my mom's closest friends.  He took over the photography business from my mom's friends when they retired.  I was really hoping to use him because his father-in-law did the rest of my family's wedding pictures.  But, I'm not going to spend $1800 on someone to take pictures of just the ceremony.

Let me know who you're using.  My fiance is checking with a friend of his too.  I'm sure it'll work out fine, I'm just having one of those panic moments.
  • Just think- if you had waited to plan, then you would have found out this bad news even closer to the wedding. I know it sucks, but you still have plenty of time.

  • Sorry things have gone that way.  :(
Do you have any hair/beauty schools in the area?  You might be able to find students that are ready to graduate or who recently did that would do bridal party hair fairly inexpensively to build their portfolio and experience.  I had my hair done for a wedding I attended two weeks ago and for $5 I had a head of curls and a partial updo that was stunning.
  • I'm going with Render Photography- www.renderphotography.com

Her standard package is $1900, it was $1700 when I booked a year and a half ago.

  • Good news - my fiance rocks!  He has a friend from high school who is a great photographer....he just didn't think of asking him until after we had talked to the first photographer.  So, we asked him yesterday and he's willing to shoot the whole wedding and reception for $1000, since we're friends and stuff.  And, since he and his wife were already invited to the wedding, we don't have to account for another meal.

Now, just to figure out the hair thing.  I have a few people checking with relatives who do hair to see if they are interested.  There is a small beauty school nearby, I may have to give them a call too.
