Dress Shopping

Ok, so I'm doing the whole wedding dress shopping with the family thing.  My sister is coming into town and it's a bunch of us going and making a day of it.  Any suggestions of places to go in the Baltimore area.  My price range is $$.

Betsey Robinson's and Gamberdella's are both popular on this board.  Like lovethebeach mentioned, if you have a specific designer in mind you might want to see if any of the stores we've listed carry that designer.

I loved Gamberdella's!  They were great to work with.  The set up is sort of like, "Say Yes to the Dress." (aka Kleinfeld's)  You give them a price range and some ideas and they pull dresses for you to try.  I originally gave them a budget of $2000 and they pulled tons of dresses in my price range, many that were in the $1200 - $1500 range.  In the end I got a designer dress that my sister picked out and begged me to try on, but Gamberdella's didn't try to upsell me or pressure me.

    Good Luck with your shopping!

I'm with Weezie!  Gamberdella's was fantastic.  It was the second place we went to (Betsy Robinson was the first), it was a great experience.  Betsy Robinson's was good too, but I just didn't find 'the dress' there.  I would highly recommend both places!

    ps - hi weezie

Ditto Weezie and Smange on Gamberdella's.  I had a truly wonderful experience with them, as well.  I, like Weezie, got a dress by a designer I loved (but thought I could never afford) but it was through their trunk sale and they never pushed me to try on any Lazaro dresses and didn't even bring any out until mine... it was a trunk sale dress... because none were in my price range.  I know people who have gotten dresses at Gamberdella's for $500 and some people who have gotten dresses there for almost $10K so they have a VERY broad selection and dresses at many price points.  And always ask about trunk sale dresses you can buy off the rack (at any store, really) even if there's not a trunk sale going on!!!

They are great with alterations, too, and very reasonable in price for alterations compared to other places.  Eve, the seamstress is wonderful and on my wedding day my dress looked nothing short of perfect.

    Good luck!

I didn't go to Gamberdella's, but I definitely second the reccomendation for Juliet's and Amanda Ritchey's. I had a great experience at both.

Thank you all so much for the suggestions.  I'm going to make appointments at Gamberdella's and Juliet's.  This message board is a total life saver.

Waves at Smange and Kimbrout.  I had 10 minutes left yesterday until I could leave work, so I ventured over here since the link was still on my favorites list.  LOL.

@ SweetFly- CONGRATULATIONS!!  Are you coming over to the Nest?

I can't wait for my appointment at Gamberdella's.  They were so nice when I called to make the appointment.  The women kept me on the phone for like 20 minutes just chatting.
