Hmmm what am I working on?

This week (and last) has been pretty focused on Xmas shopping and other various sales (Can't wait to pick up my Coach purse in a couple weeks!)

I'll likely start contacting cake vendors next week as I think the person who I thought was going to do it, isn't anymore. (A friend in the biz - I don't want to feel like I'm bugging her so I might just look elsewhere)

Also trying to figure out BM dresses. That is a big thing I need to focus on now as they are all bugging me about it haha

I've spent SOOOO much time on BM dresses this week. Hunting online like crazy, asking for opinions, calculating cost-comparisons, getting fabric swatches etc... More time than I've spent on anything wedding-related thus far. Down to 3 options and now stuck in indecisiveness. BM dresses have become my black hole of time.

In other news, STILL waiting for venue/date confirmation. I've stopped thinking about it since it's out of my control and totally nerve-wracking.

I have wasted countless hours in the last week looking at invitations. I'm having a serious case of champagne taste on a beer budget problem with them, and it's making it impossible for me to find anything I like.

I also asked a good friend of mine on Thursday night if she'd do a reading at the ceremony, and she kindly agreed, so that only leaves my fiance to ask his dad to do a reading, and we'll have all of our people squared away. Hopefully he'll ask him tomorrow.

I don't really anticipate getting anything accomplished this week with the holiday, we've got a lot of stuff going on. Although I might try to work up my bridal shower list because my mom's been asking about it.

Saturday I spent the morning looking at BM dresses and trying to get an idea of things I like so I don't waste the time of the girls. This Saturday we are going shopping ans hopefully ordering the BM dresses. I was able to get all 6 girls to come to the appt, but I hope it's not too many opinions. I'm worried aboit it a little, but just want to get it done.

Fi and I went to a bridal show at our venue Saturday. We were able to talk to our DJ about a few things which made me feel better, plus we got to see him in action on the mic, also a good thing.

We tasted more cakes, so now we're back to making appointments for tastings over the next few weeks. I also was able to get FI to look at tuxes since there were some guys modeling them and actually received feedback from him.

He is currently looking into our transportation and blocking hotel rooms for the bridal party in case they don't want to drive that night.

We booked our suite to get ready in the day of and go back to that night so the last thing on my list is draping for the hideous mirror in the main room of the venue. If the linen place is open on Friday I will call and make an appointment.

I'm starting to feel relieved, I have the big stuff done now I can focus on the smaller DIY details.

Im getting my BM dresses from Madame Bridal, they have an online site and a real store in Florida. They are an authorized dealer of the dresses and they are authentic. My dresses are Bill Levkoff, and they are recommended on the companys website. This is saving my girls 70-100 for the dress alone. It is in my local store for 260 and they are getting the dress for 160.00.

I actually have something substantial to post this week! I already posted some to FB (which I'm so glad I joined after all, you ladies rock!)

I bought my dress! Its so pretty and I can't wait to wear it. I also did a few cake tastings and fell in love with a pina colada cake with pineapple filling. It was sooo yummy. She was more than I anticipated for a cake though so now there's this whole discussion flying around that I should just get a fake cake and have sheet cakes in the back.

I also think I figured out what type of invites I want. I ordered a bunch of samples yesterday. I'm going to end up designing my own so I'm sure those will be posted for you to review shortly.

And I also think I figured out what I want for centerpieces. I'm not that much of a flower person and I can't see spending that much money on them either so I want to do a tall cylindrical glass vase with submerged flowers and then a lampshade with a candle on the top. That has to be cheaper than flowers.

Its so rewarding clicking those checkmarks!!

Music, music, music! -This is still my main priority. I am making progress though

I have 3 bids from different jazz ensembles (as mentioned in a previous post) and we plan to sit down with FI's parents tomorrow, when we're at their house for Thanksgiving. Fingers crossed that they like our ideas and the price quotes are comfortable for them. I really worked hard to get some competitive prices for them to see the breakdown and value of having live music. I am confident it will go well and hoping that they will offer to cover the cost 100% -that will be a true blessing.

In other BIG check marking accomplishments... We sent in our 3rd big payment to our venue this week. We are now paid 50% -I am so relieved, and proud to say that it was a cash payment -no credit cards!!! This is a big deal! We agreed that we would try our hardest NOT to charge anything and so far we're holding true to this.

Also, had to push an appointment with our Rabbi until after the holiday... I had a last minute job pop up yesterday and FI's work schedule is ridiculous right now, to say the least! Aside from locking down the band, he is our only other "big" item that I want to get squared away before the holidays.

Friday we made the deposit and booked our florist! She made a mock up of m bouquet and I'm sooo happy with it. I can't wait!

Today I went and made the deposit on our baker. Her cake is out of this world good, and she's making us a "cake boss" grooms cake, and she's making our rock candy wedding cake. Which FI and I are both overly ecstatic about.

It will look like that, but with the candy bits in our colors.

So, we now officially have all our vendors booked! Except for the RD caterer, but that doesn't count, haha. But no that's it and FI's mom is paying so I don't want to push her. The place we're using has us penciled in, so it's all good!

lol It's a waiting week for me with the holiday...
Meeting a florist Friday and Looking at suits Sunday. My bridesmaids are cracking me up- apparently they have only been to weddings where the bride picked their dresses so Navy, short and chiffon is confusing them! They keep asking me if the ones we looked at were my "final choice". I would pick a dress for them all to wear but no one dress would look good on all of them...

Finallyyyy have some progress! I have been seriously slacking in the planning department. Ordered our save the dates, should have them out in the mail early next week. Going BM dress shopping Saturday. Registering Saturday night and possibly going dress shoping with my Mom on Sunday for her dress. I've booked 3 florist appts for December 7th. Kinda far away (it seems anyway) but finally get a day off work where I can get stuff done. Getting excited, feeling like I'm actually getting stuff done.
