Any Brides by Demetrious brides

Hey guys - I'm hoping you can give me some advice.

I didn't really enjoy the customer service at Brides by Demetrious but of course it's where I found *my* dress (loud crying and everything).

Now I'm hesitant to spend that amount of money there and have also found the dress heavily discounted online.

So I have two questions
1) Did any of you all have good experiences there once you bought the dress? alterations and everything?
2) Why are these dresses so much cheaper online?

Re: Any Brides by Demetrious brides

  • Please show me the website where you found your discounted dress online. More likely than not it is a chinese knock off. DO NOT purchase a dress from a chinese knock off site. For one, these designs have been stolen from the designer. For two, the quality of the materials used to make the dress are substandard at best. For three, you might not even get a finished dress if you get one at all. One thing these knock off sites will do is tell you that since your dress is a custom made gown, it will take three months to ship to you - which just happens to be the amount of time that has to go by before you can no longer make a claim on your credit card or paypal account. Then you end up with either an unfinished dress or no dress at all, with no way to get a refund.

Now, if the dress is only $100 - $200 and you feel comfortable enough to risk losing that amount of money, and you have PLENTY of time before the wedding to get another dress if you do get scammed, then go for it - just know the risks.

Now, it could be that the website you are talking about is a second hand site, or a website that sells "last years" design.

  • Look on net bride. My sister bought her Demetrious gown from there.

They have a decent selection of sale/clearance dresses. At least they did last time I was there. I popped in without an appointment (I do that a lot at different bridal stores) and they were great about letting me browse. I plan to go back when the hard core trying on commences. I'm sorry you had a bad experience. But you did find your dress! Maybe you could buy it there and take it elsewhere (a reputable tailor) for alterations if you don't want to deal with them. I personally wouldn't want to buy a knockoff. if I was really unhappy with the service, I'd buy the dress at another store. There are several stores in Georgia that sell demetrios. I'd call and if they don't have it in stock, they could probably order it. Since you tried it on already and love it that would solve your problem with getting your dream dress, but not wanting to give your business to the store where you didn't have a great experience.

Look at the demetrios website. There are 4 stores total that sell Demetrios. The closet one to Atlanta is in Peachtree City (about 48 mins south). Not a bad drive at all to get your dress.
  • I also bought my dress at Demetrios. I went randomly one Sunday just to try on dresses and they were really good about fitting me in as well. I ended up finding my dress and ordered. My dress finally came in although they haven't been all that nice about next steps as far as alterations and fittings. I've decided to use another lady for alterations. My suggestions is if you don't like the service get the dress somewhere else or get it there and do alterations somewhere else. Hope this helps!
  • Wouldn't go with a chinese seller for the most important part of a wedding. If its a used dress or preowned ask for pictures and etc. I also wouldn't spend a large amount of money in a place where I wasn't treated the way I would like.
  • i agree.  i would be careful with discounted may not turn out be a bargain.  as for customer service i wouldnt go somewhere or use a store where it sucked.
  • It may depend what "online" means. If you mean, "Craigslist" that's one thing, where you could actually see the dress and inspect it before paying for it. If it's just "an online ad" for a dress where you pay and you may or may not get anything --- that might lead to a real disappointing experience.

I'm thinking that for an important event, just bite the bullet (although that could cause lead poisoning) and be happy with a BBD purchase. Why add to your worry list when you can check items OFF your list?
