October 2012 Weddings

A question for the early oct. brides.

I plan on making my RSVP cards today (on VP).  We are getting married on the 7th and  our guests need to book their hotel room by 8.31 if they are planning to stay there at the reduced rate.    I am struggling with when to put the RSVP date if I should do it mid september or do it for August.

What are you suggestions?  What is your RSVP date?

If you have a website are you including that information in your invitation (not ON the invitation.  The invitation enclosures are causing me more stress than the actual invitation!

ETA:  meal counts are due on 10.3

Re: A question for the early oct. brides.

  • Our wedding is the 6th and our RSVP date is Aug. 30th.  I need some extra time for the calligrapher to do our escort cards, so I pushed it up early.

  • We're the 6th and our RSVP date is August 24th, with the understanding that that gives us a week or so until August 30th (which is what I'd really like it to be) to call people who don't respond.

Our caterer needs the totals by September 17th; our hotel cut-off date is actually as early as September 6th, FWIW, but there are a bunch of reasonably priced hotels in the area should anyone miss out and need a place to stay.

    Hoep this helps!

  • I have a 10/6 wedding and I asked for RSVP's to be back on 9/8. This gives me time to wait for late responses, make any necessary phone calls, do my seating chart and escort cards and get my final meal/head count to my venue.

  • I should add that we're also out of town two weeks in September, and so are a lot of our guests (other wedding with a lot of the same people going to one or the other), so that's why ours had to be a bit on the earlier side. Kind of a pain, but again, since most everyone's in the same boat, we should be okay.

  • Just as a follow up, have any of you ladies put your invites in the mail yet?  I finished ours last week and they are just stilling on my desk stamped and ready to go. We are are having a big 4th of July party this coming Saturday and I think I might just send them out this week so they aren't hanging around for the party.  It's a little early, but what's a few days??

  • No, not yet. We're going out of town July 7th and my goal is that they are put in the mail box (we're not hand-processing or hand-stamping or whatever it's called) as we leave our neighborhood. I even know exactly which mailbox I have in mind, ha.

  • I'm planning on sending mine the week of July 9th, but honestly if I get mine all set before then I just may send them out earlier. I'm not sure yet to be honest...

  • Our invitations enclosures caused me way more stress than our invitations too! For our October 21st wedding, our RSVP is September 21st. We'll be sending out our invitations in early to mid August. We included our wedding website on our enclosure card as another reminder and also so that we did not have to use that space to write about our hotel blocks. Our enclosure cards focused on our transportation we hired for guests to and from the venue.

  • Our wedding is 10/7 also and our RSVP date is September 13th.  I went backwards from the date our caterer needs final numbers (10 days before the wedding) and then gave myself two weeks to follow up on any outstanding responses.  I'm not sending invitations out until the 2 month mark...the first week of August.  We sent out save the dates so I don't see the need to send them out earlier than the usual 6-8 weeks.

  • Thanks for your input!  We have decided to do a Sept 10th as the RSVP date.  Now to decide when we will send them out....: /

  • You already decided i see but we are getting married 10/7 and I put our rsvp date at September 16th. (we have very few OOT guests and our reception site only needs 1 week notice of final head count)

  • Our wedding is 10/6 and RSVP is Sept 21. It's late I know but I like stress apparently. The caterer needs the final numbers a week before, so that still gives me a week to call the stragglers. My invites are going in the mail two weeks from today!

  • Our wedding is Oct 5th, I have all RSVP's due to me by September 10th.
  • Our date is the 6th & I'm asking RSVP's to be in Sept 1st.  That way I have plenty of time to get the caterer a number & make any changes if needed.  We're right at the limit for the venue capacity!!

  • I'm Oct 6th, and I'm planning on sending the invites by the 2nd week of July (a lot of our guests are OOT), and I'm not having any of the hotel info on any of the cards because it's all on the website, and that's how our guests are asked to RSVP.
I put the RSVP date by Sept 15, because my caterer needs to know, plus the rental place I think.

    Hope this helps!
  • Our wedding is October 13th and RSVP dates 9/22... From someone who doesn't work a normal M-F schedule, there is NO WAY that I could RSVP for a wedding a month and a half in advance...our schedules just aren't out that early. That's why I think August RSVPs are too soon. We're also not sending ours out until August 9th...the normal is 6-8 weeks before.

  • Hi--- date twin here... I'm sending my August 1st.. it seemed like a good enough date, don't want to send them too early it just might make me more anxious! And people said 2 months prior was the norm.  Most people are coming from out of town but I sent my save the dates in January so everyone's aware of the wedding by this point and we put our website on there which has hotel info as well although sadly my hotel rate is probably more expensive than many of the other hotels (I live in Vegas) but the block is near where everything's happening and well they do have a lot of options so they don't have to stay there.
RSVP date is sept 15th, I need final counts to the venue 8 days before and so that gives me 2 weeks.

WE are getting married on Oct 6th and our RSVP date is August 6th...

it is out of town, so we also want to make sure... that if some can't come, we have time to sent out additional invites to other friends and family we would love to have with us, but we ARE however limited...
