Does it make sense to have my wedding Easter weekend?

We figured most ppl will have Good Friday off so it's a good travel day but wondering if that Sat ( March 30) would be a good choice since the next day is Easter Sun.

Easter Sun is March 31 next year.

Our other option in Sat. March 23. We need to decide today.

Is this a horrible idea?

    i wouldn't assume that a lot of people have Good Friday off.  That is not a holiday that is recognized like Christmas.  My company gives us that day off but i've worked for/known other companies that don't.  And if people have to travel to get to your wedding I doubt they would want to travel back on Easter Sunday.  I think the weekend before is a better option.

    I personally would think it's a hard weekend.  I too have never gotten Good Friday off in the company I work for.  In addition, I know that the day before Easter, I'm always getting food and things ready for the next day, since it's such a quick weekend.  I also would go with the other weekend.

    I'm getting married Mar 31st this year, which is the weekend before Easter.  HIGHLY recommend not having it Easter weekend... I agree with PP that I wouldn't assume most people have Good Friday off.  Also, a lot of people would prefer to have their holidays not dedicated to weddings.

    Ditto PPs.  My company doesn't give Good Friday off.

    Beyond that, as a Catholic, Good Friday and Holy Saturday are solemn days.  Good Friday is a day of fast and Holy Saturday is filled with preparations for Easter.  Beyond that, Easter is also a huge family day and many people spend Holy Saturday getting ready for their own house guests.

    Be careful with even choosing the weekned before.  Palm Sunday is also a very holy day.  It wouldn't be as big a deal to DH and me to attend a wedding the day before but in some cultures, Palm Sunday is a huge day of celebration as well.

    Thanks for those suggestions. Thanks banana- We are Christian and I didn't even think about Palm Sunday. I was just thinking my/his family could all go to our home church together for Easter Sun. since we all attend church but I see what you ladies mean! We are going to do it on the 23rd!

    We also don't get Friday off and I'm not sure where your guests may have to travel from, but I actually don't come home anymore for Easter (from Boston) because traffic back from CT is AWFUL on Sunday!

    My FI and I grew up in CT but now live in Boston so I totally understand!
    We just officially picked March 23 2013!

    Though I'm not religious, many people are and they go to church on Good Friday and also want to attend services on Sunday morning. I think it would be inconvenient to your guests. Also, hotels may be booked, reception venues may be planning Sunday brunch, etc. Too much in one weekend.  And don't even get me started on the traffic on a holiday weekend! Nightmare! Yell
