Venue Troubles- Stressed Out!

I posted yesterday about my venue charging to set silverware and a water glass on the table. It is $1.50 per person. Then if I would like to use napkins it is $1.00 per napkin.

Now I find out we are also being charged for bar service during the ceremony. I asked the manager if we could do the bar for 3.5 hours instead of the 4 hours since no one will be drinking during the ceremony. She said no because the packages come in 4 hours and she can't change them.

Next, I find out that the maximum number of people that they said the venue can hold (125) is without a dance floor. Even though I have about 100 guests coming that still makes me have two tables on the dance floor. I could do ten tables of ten but the tables they have are 60" and I was told ten would be really cramped, especially with chargers.

So I am just a bit stressed on what to do. Rent bigger tables from somewhere else? Just suck it up and have a tiny dance floor? Nix the chargers? Hope people don't come?  I really wish I looked at more venues. This lady is not working with me at all...

Re: Venue Troubles- Stressed Out!

  • I went to a wedding where they just moved the tables that were on the dance floor before all the dancing started.  It wasn't that big of a deal.  I would stick to 8 ppl per table, because 10 is definitely cramped at a 60" round (that's the size we have available to us as well).  As for napkins, you can BUY them for less than $1 each, and you could always resell them after the wedding to recoup some of the money.

Here are some links for napkins:

I'm sure things will work out! HTH :)
  • if I were you I'd be looking over my contact to see if these charges were in there...if they weren't I wouldn't pay them....

as for the dance floor issue, 2 things : 1 hope you get enough declines and 2, if not then 2 tables on the dance floor isn't that bad HOWEVER a crampt table is awful...lol

  • I have also heard of weddings where there are a couple tables on the dance floor which are removed after the dinner. So many people will be up and moving around that it won't be a big deal.

I would also very carefully comb through the contract to see if any of the upcharges were mentioned. If not, I would discuss this with the venue.

  • I agree with pp.  Check your contract and if it states nothing of these charges, I would let them know that fact and that you are not paying.  Also the above websites are great.  We used them for another function and completely recommend if you need.  I would only do place settings for 8 people and just move two tables out of the way when the dancing starts.  No big deal!

<div>I went to a wedding that did this and honestly it was kind of annoying... there wasn't anywhere else for us to go and sit during all of the spotlight dances and we couldn't go back to our table to eat our cake. </div>

  • At least I am not the only one that has run into this I guess. I am going to rent the napkins through my linen guy. I thought this place was a good deal but I am having to rent chairs and tables through another company. I should have went with a more expensive place that had everything included, it might have been worth it over all.

Thanks for the responses ladies. So glad I have you all to turn to.
