what size ct do you think this is?

I have no idea what it is...does it look like a 1ct or 3/4?  It's not my ring, I just like how the center stone looks, it's not too overbearing :)

Re: what size ct do you think this is?

  • It's really hard to tell, because I don't know how big the hand is, or the band it's on, and the picture isn't too close to the ring.
  • I would take it to a jeweler to find out.

  • Have a jeweller look at it.

Then go somewhere else.   There are charts that will tell you the diamond size.  Maybe you can find one in the internet.

  • Her hand looks similar to my size and the diamond looks about the same as mine in a different shape (of course that's hard to tell.. since it's a picture) so i would guess it's a little over a ct.
  • You can't tell carat weight by looking at it, because depending on how well it is cut it will face up differently.

You may get some better help over at www.pricescope.com, but beware, you may become diamond stat obsessed!

It depends on how well it is cut, as badly cut diamonds have more ct weight deeper or are shallow. You can't tell weight from the the top view only (plus someone with a ring size of 4 vs 9 looks very different)  The diamond should have a report that gives it proportions and weight.

The jeweler didn't know?  I would definitely go somewhere else.  If the jeweler at the store doesn't know information about their stock then I would not trust them with any jewelry purchases.

  • Carat is a weight measurement therefore you cannot tell by looking at the face.

Jewelry is so much about illusion.

<div>I think you (and a few others) didn't read properly. OP stated that it's not HER ring.. I think these are just pictures she found? I could be wrong.. but I'm guessing she just has the picture and likes the size so she wants to know what it is.. She doesn't HAVE the ring in her hand. </div>
