Re: I want to lose 10lbs

  • Hi Winter!

Welcome to the board.  Always good to see another MSP lady around here.  What typically works best is a well balanced, clean, green diet.

*Get rid of the crap convenience food.  Most of it is full of unnecessary preservatives like salt which promotes bloat.
*Hop on a free site like SparkPeople or myFitnessPal and track your calories.  Every single thing you put in your mouth.  These sites are easy ways to see exactly where your food problems may be.
*Don't neglect your veggies! Tons of great nutrients, lower calories, and tons of fiber
*Water, water, water.  Ditch the crap drinks when you're thirsty.  You're body needs water to function at its best.  I drink 4+ liters a day always.
  • livestrong.com is also free and i LOVE it. they have groups where you can get support, you can record your food and they break down the macroutrients so you can see how mnay carbs/protein/fats/sodium.. you are getting also can log fitness , they have a food diary too.
    <3 it,
maybe up your mileage twice a week . i have been traiining for a half marathon and when i first started i could not even run 2 miles no i am up to 10!!!!  i have lost weight as a result and am down from 120 to 115. need another 5 and then i have hit my goal!!
running and eating healthy is great for weight loss. just make sure you track your calories ad cut out unhealthy carbs

  • Just running (while one of the best ways to help loose weight) is not always helpful. Confuse your muscles. When your body gets used to a schedule, it can adjust and you don't loose as much. Switch it up, do some different exercises, or take some fun classes. I actually started take both pole dancing and burlesque classes, and a lot of people are noticing the weight is coming off. Plus, they are super fun, and give you a good confidence boost. And neither of them require me to take off any clothes, and I am also practicing on how to survive dancing in heels.

There is a book that has a great amount of work outs that you can use at any gym or at your own home, and you can switch it up. It's called The Buff Bride. I use it when I do hit the gym, and it allows me to change up my workout routin every time.
  • Avoid excessive yeast (breads) and sodium (added table salt, tinned foods, sodas, junk food) and eating late at night, increase pure water intake, do NOT eat and drink9this delays digestion and promotes excess acid and thus bloating). Add organic yogurt as a evening snack (gross yes, helpful yess yess) This will help with the bloating.

I bought my dress last October, then came thanksgving, and christmas. January I started grad school (so up late eating and stressing) then came valentines then easter. Well can I tell you Im now 10lbs heavier. I know what to do but ummm I just dont have the energy to do it.

The Master Cleanse (lemonade: lemon, maple syrup and a dash of cayenne pepper) works wonders even if you only do it for 3 days! I promise you!  I did it for a cleanse last year and got a ton of energy and felt great.

I just had my massive wisdom teeth removed so while I'd love to diet I need soft foods (pudding: sugar and milk smh, and yogurt: blech!) to help protect my stomach from the harsh pain meds Im popping now.

Stay motivated keep doing what you doing. Try a cleanse for a quick reboost of your metabolic system, even green veggie juices as in you jucing veggies. It works too. My fiance tried it after watching Fat Sick and Nearly Dead he was a junk food lover, he only replaced 1 meal with a glass of juice and lost 10lbs. Please watch that movie (its free on hulu).
  • A friend of mine used a personal trainer last year to help her lose stubborn weight.  He had her try some crazy 14 day diet.  But she claims what really worked for her (and seems to be working for me now too)...eat small snacks frequently that are higher in protein ie: handful of nuts, 1 sm container of greek yogurt, peanut butter and apple slices, 1 package of whole grain oatmeal, protein shake, hummus and carrots,  etc.  You get the idea.  She claims cutting out carbs (potatoes, rice, breads, etc) after 7 but I have yet to do that!  When you do have bread, try Ezekiel bread/ancient grain bread - higher in fibre and protein.  Lots of veggies leading up to your wedding and fitting, limit the higher sugar fruits - less bloating (but avoid gas forming veggies if they make you bloat, ie: cauliflower/broccoli, etc).

Exercising, do interval training.  Jog 1 min, walk 2 minutes, etc.  That will jolt your metabolism a bit...as will the frequent snacknig (every 2-3 hours when you feel hungry but not famished!)

  • Join the 90 day Body by Vi Challenge.  I lost 6 pounds in my first week.  The shakes by themselves taste like cake mix and are amazing, but can also be mixed with other things to create shakes that taste like apple pie, peanut butter cup, etc.  When compared to other products on the market, Vi shakes are lower in calories and carbs and have no added sugar.  It will taste great and leave you feeling fuller longer.  Check out this website and let me know if you have questions :)

With Body by VI, your goal is definitely possible.
