My fiance and I are having to pay for everything inour wedding ourselves. Therefore we are unable to have a huge wedding. So we agreed to do something small, casual ad informal with family and close friends. How do we do this without hurting anyones feelings? I have plenty of time before the wedding but trying to figure this out is torture for me. Any advise?

    Just explain to everyone that you are having a small, intimate, family-only ceremony. If they love you, they'll understand. :]

    I would prepare yourself for the strange looks and the inappropriate comments some people will make.  My FI and I are in the same boat.  Paying for everything ourselves and only able to invite family and close friends. 

    I actually had someone say to me, "your parents didn't save up money to pay for your wedding???"  Some people are just clueless.

    But the people who do have manners and/or common sense and those who care about you will completely understand.  I think in this day and age (and in this economy) it's becoming more common for people to choose to host smaller weddings.

    Thanks for the advice. SOme one asked me the same about parents saving money for the wedding but this is my second wedding and my parents are unable to help. I just hat to hurt ppls feelings and I know that it is coming as soon as announcements go out. I even concidered having a big cook out and my house a few days after the wedding to include all of our friends to celebrate our wedding. Because we will be home, I don't belive we are taking a long honeymoon.
