I saw some commotion but I don't understand what the problem is.

Also makes me glad that I don't really chat very much over there. What nonsense.

All I saw was some girls telling other girls they didnt like the names they gave to their children but that probably wasn't the first thing that happened to start all of that. Sheesh!

I made my first post today on the Pets board and so far haven't gotten flamed- the day is young though!

I don't get why they don't post on the Bump ... it seems like 90% of the conversation there is about their children and the joy of being mommies.

I also thought I saw someone mention an argument over the Cry-it-Out/CIO method. Who the fucck cares???

What is going on with the NJ Nest board?  I read over there, but rarely post because a lot of it has to do with kids.  But ye - I have no idea what the whole debacle seems to be about.

I remember there being some drama recently because someone commented that it seems like everyone who gets an SLR camera suddenly fancies herself to be a good photographer (even creating a business out of it), and then a lot of people replied with, "Who are you to judge?"

There was also some discussion about people posting a whole lot even though they have small children at home, and what a shame it is for them to not pay any attention to their kids.

There seems to be an awful lot of, "Don't judge people, you don't know me, blah blah blah" over there, immediately followed by, "But I am going to make a passive-aggressive comment judging an unnamed Nestie on XYZ." Leave it in high school, geez.

I mean, people seem nice over there, and I've asked some questions and people were nice and helpful, but the majority of them are just ALL ABOUT their kids. Which is all well and good, but I chat and lurk on some of the national Nest boards (and other non-Nest boards) and there are other moms there who talk about things besides being a mommy and what their children are doing and how awesome their children are. I'm glad you like your kids but I am really not interested in hearing about them all the time ... and I doubt it's going to be a case of, "MB, you will understand when you're a mother."

You guys are talking about NJ, right?  I'll check it out because I love reading drama posts.  But yeah, that board is ridiculously kid-oriented.

I kind of agree about the photographer thing, btw.  But I've had three friends quit their day jobs in the last year to try their hands at wedding photography.  So I've seen the alleged trend in action.

I like the national nest boards, for what it's worth.  Some are much less kid-friendly.  I particularly like Money Matters.

I don't mind a little discussion about kids ... I like seeing cute pictures, hearing funny stories, and it's totally understandable that people would ask other parents for advice. It just seems like that's ALL the NJ nest board talks about. Really, there's NOTHING else you can talk about? Is your only identity that of So-and-So's Mommy?

And it's not just the topic of kids ... I really cannot stand talking to people who are one-dimensional and only talk about one topic ... sports, TV, work, whoever they boinked last night, whatever. I don't think I realized until the Nest just how much TV some people really watch, because ALL they talk about is TV and celebrities. How about what's going on in YOUR life?

Oh, for Pete's sake. Really? Do people have nothing better to do than create/feed into drama?

The investigation into who she is is very Scooby Doo to me.

I also don't understand why that can't be posted under a real user name?  I mean, it is a user name anyway.  If you guys started insulting me, I wouldn't know who you were anyway to come key your car or whatever.

This reminds me of back in the day when people used to sign up for PID/AEs here to insult people.

I bet the PID is getting a lot of entertainment out of everyone flipping out all over the place about what she's saying.  Ignoring her would have been a much, much better way to make her go away.

    But hey, decent workday entertainment...

I *think* poster in disguise.  Unless I'm guessing wrong.  Took me a while to figure it out.

I'm also noticing that a lot of people post random thoughts that don't really lend to a group discussion. Like, "I really want M&Ms right now!" or "Ugh, will five o'clock NEVER come?" (And the weird part to me is that sometimes those random posts get 20 comments!)

I mean, I'm on a private message board with some friends and sometimes we'll just post random thoughts if it's slow or if we want to say something, but usually someone just starts a thread called "Randoms" and we'll keep it all to that same thread for the whole day. I'd go bonkers if they started creating a new thread for every new thought.

I've also noticed that one person will mention something in her post, and then 5 more people will follow up with separate posts on the same basic topic:
Poster 1: "We went to Sesame Place last weekend."
P2: "Does anyone have coupons for Sesame Place?"
P3: "What should my kids wear to Sesame Place?"
P4: "Were your infants scared by the Sesame Place characters?"
P5: "Where can we sleep and eat near Sesame Place?"

Really, you can't just keep it to one thread? (Or better yet, just make a Sesame Place FAQ sticky thread, since I see Sesame Place mentioned about 40 times a week? :P)

I usually scan that board, but yesterday's posts made me decide not to anymore.  I checked out the MM board bc of uppereast's advice.

</div><div>This may get me in trouble if there are lurkers over here, but I agree.  I also notice tons of "Can you believe what this person said on facebook?" threads.  Sometimes they're bad, sometimes I think the Nestie is making a mountain out of a molehill, and sometimes I can't spot the issue with what was said.  And there are tons of "The funniest thing happened today, lol" posts that I don't find funny at all, which are followed by 20 "LOL!" responses.
