My dress is paid for, but I hate it :(

One day I love it, most days I hate it! I don't feel like a bride. I was pressured into it. The list goes on & on, but, my fiance will kill me! I just don't know what to do. I bought it at David's, and they don't take anything back :(

Has anyone ever heard of them doing a return?

I am totally helpless at this point!

First of all, I am sorry you hate your dress and were pressured into getting it.

Has your dress been altered? Did you buy it online or in the store?  If you bought it in the store, you are correct - "no returns / no exchanges."  Have you tried listing it online for sale?  Just be honest - bought it, but it's not the one I really want.  You probably won't be able to get full purchase price for it, but it's a start.

If you hate it, there's no reason to wear it.  You will be looking at pictures FOREVER.  You could always try to sell it on Ebay, recoup a lot of the money.  If you find something else you like online, maybe it will be a wash for you??

If it hasnt been altered in any form, and is one they think they could resell, they possibly may give you a credit towards another dress in their store. I have heard of this a few times.

So sorry you hate your dress :(  If you get the chance to get another, only take one person with you, less pressure.  I only brought my sister, it was easier :)

I would advise AGAINST Ebay.  If you sell your dress, will you have time to find a new one?  At least if you sell on classifieds websites, you can always decide not to sell it if you're not getting the price you want.  If you absolutely must sell on Ebay, make sure you put a good enough reserve on it that you won't be flat broke when it comes time to buy another dress.

Thanks you guys! I feel a little better! I think I will call David's and see if they can maybe take it back and give me something, or trade so SOMETHING! If they won't I believe I will use the classifieds! I don't want to regret it forever!

Has anyone used mylovebridal.com or other sites that sell "wholesale" dress?

There is a place off Roswell Rd called "Bridal Sense"  they are a consignment shop..which means you could possibly have some luck selling your dress there and maybe see something there very reasonably priced?

There's a great store based out of Austin, TX called "Scarlett's Closet".. they sell sample dresses (nice ones) for a fraction of the price.

I am in no way affiliated with them - just bought a "fun" dress from them and loved their customer service and selection in general!

P.S. You could also see if there is another bride in the same boat as you.  Maybe she has your dream dress, and you have hers?

The same happened to me, but I sold my unwanted dress on www.recycledbride.com and was able to find the gown of my dreams (practically spanking brand new) from another former bride for only $400 (retail price $1200). It's worth a shot. Don't worry; everything will work out. Stay true to your heart. Good luck!
