Video

Hi All!

I am looking for opinions on videography.  Did you have it?  Do you think it's necessary?  What did you pay? etc, etc...

I have received quotes for 6 hours coverage for around $1200.  This seems insane to me.

We want coverage but I don't necessarily need some heavily edited, set to music kind of thing... just stright up video and maybe well-wishes on video from guests etc.  Does anyone have any references for anything a bit cheaper?

TIA for all opinions. =)

We didn't have it at our wedding, so I can't offer opinions on prices.  We just had a friend with a reasonable (but still commercial off-the-shelf) digital camcorder that he set up on a tripod before the ceremony and just set the camera running. He captured the ceremony, then he took a few videos during the reception, nothing much.

I love the idea of a video guestbook though!  Do you have a friend with a Flip who can do that before the ceremony and during the cocktail hour? Maybe put up a sign or put it in the programs?

Yea see this is kinda what I am looking to do.  I would love to spend $500 or under for video but would really love it if I could find a volunteer ;-)

I'll start asking around.  I just also wanted to get other CFL brides' experience with cost, if they watch it, etc...

    Thanks!

We had a crazy huge package from Fuel Videography & they honored a special another knottie told me about for $750 for their best package. They got the video back to us yesterday (just 5 weeks after the wedding!) & it was fabulous. They were seriously AMAZING to work with - set up THREE cameras for the ceremony! They showed up at 9 am to capture our getting ready moments & didn't leave until after we did at 10pm that night. I cannot reccomend them enough!! I don't think I realized how important the video was until we got it. They caught all the BEST moments & tons of stuff we didn't even know happened since we were so busy the day of. I think it's better than pictures almost because it captures all the emotion and moments pictures can't. No matter who you use I would definitely hire a videographer. http://fuelvideoproductions.com/

I am using Fuel Videography too!
Mike and Mike are super nice an we just can't wait to work with them.
Their prices are the best I could find and was really impressed with them. FI and I did not budget for videography but after we started our planning process we realized how important it was since he wants to see me 'getting ready' and I want to see how the bridal party looks going down the aisle.

Fuel Videography is with you all day. It is not an hour by hour service. If you need some more info PM me or better yet email me at collado0609@yahoo.com

I happen to have friends who studied video production in college and they videotaped our wedding as a huge huge favor.

My suggestion is to contact local colleges/universities with video production programs! Students always need money and experience and will do it for way cheaper than professional companies. Especially in your situation where you aren't looking for amazing pro-level camerawork & editing, I think you'll end up saving a lot of money going that route :)

Just to show you what a couple of video production college majors can do... this was just a fun music video we put together while we were engaged that we ended up sharing with all our guests at our reception:

    Good luck!
