Random wedding questions....

I've been contemplating the following questions and need some help getting answers....

1. I have 2 "ring bearers". The reason why is because my MOH's little boy will be 22 months old & I really wanted him in the wedding so he is one and my 1/2 brother (12) will be the other. My brother will carry the pillow and help the little one down the aisle. The little one will be carrying a framed sign that will say "Here Comes the Bride". The frame is a vintage looking 5x7 in white. Inside I was thinking of having a black background with silver writing... but that was just my first thought. I need some suggestions. Should I do stencils? Have a print shop make something up, go online somewhere?

2. I have 4 brothers. 3 full & 1 1/2. The brother that FI & I am closest to is one of FI's GM. Then the 1/2 is one of the ring bearers. That leaves the other two... which are twins/trouble makers/jobless/only 1 has a cell phone, etc... At first I was thinking about asking them to be ushers. But then, I really don't want ushers... Also, since they are "jobless" I would have to buy everything for them. That would come to about $250+ tax... which to be honest, is a lot right now with all this wedding stuff! Anny suggestions?

3. As I mentioned in the FB GTG post we are having a tasting next week with Mama Stortini's, sarack said that she has heard very good things about them. I was wondering if anyone has any other referrals for Italian Restaurants (that will go out to Orting).

4. Are you taking off any days from work before the wedding? Our wedding is on a Saturday & I was thinking of taking off Thurs & Fri.

5. I just had to throw this in. FI had a wedding nightmare last night! His first one! :)
He dreamt that we had taken my ring in before the wedding because all of the little diamonds (there are 92 little accent diamonds) fell out! The Shane Co replaced them all in time for the wedding BUT 2 of them were ruby's. FI was really upset!!!

I don't know about all of these things but as far as the two unemployed brothers go, I would just tell them very kindly that you are sensitive to their financial situations and so you don't want to add any financial obligations and maybe ask them to do a reading or something or invite them to just relax and enjoy the day.

And, on taking a couple days off work, truthfully, I think it's best. You won't be able to give work or the prep 100% and it'll add stress. Especially if you're trying to do stuff like nail appointments and if you have out of town guests you'd like to visit with.

    I don't really have a suggestion for #1.

#2- I think it is fine to leave out the other brothers... I forget when your wedding is, but you don't have to decide on ushers until it gets close, so you can always add them as ushers later if you feel obligated. But honestly, when there's multiple siblings most people understand if not all of them are involved. How old are they?

    #3- I'm no help there. :)

#4- My wedding is on a Saturday, too, and I'm taking off Tuesday-Friday beforehand since we are having tons of people coming from OOT (including my parents and brother) and I want to see them. :) Also, my wedding is June 5, and for work it was easy to be off beginning June 1. My FI is taking off Thursday and Friday before the wedding. I think if you can take off Thursday and Friday, you'll appreciate the time off before the wedding.

#5- That's so funny! I got an email from my FI the other night at like 2 am with wedding-related stuff in it... apparently he couldn't sleep and was trying to make lists to help calm his mind. :)

    1 and 3 - no thoughts

    2. You don't sound like you're particularly close to these brothers. Do you think it would cause problems if they weren't involved in any way? Because I'm inclined to say don't worry about it. Chances are they don't have suits it sounds like, otherwise I would get them bouts as they are immediate family but leave it at that.

    4. My wedding is Sunday and I'm taking Thursday and Friday off. I have a lot of DIY to complete in that time and don't have a DOC so have a lot to make sure is organized.

    5. Awwww, how cute!

    2. The don't have suits, which made me think - great! What are they going to wear (if I don't buy them something) cause they will be in pictures... ah! They are the kind of "boys" that would wear tennis shoes (even though they know they are in pictures)... They are not selfish, but they just don't care... They are 28. (old enough to grow the heck up!!) They would not do a reading unfortunately.

    4. I am doing some DIY stuff... like the centerpieces. & I don't have a DOC either.

    Alison #5 - that's too cute - he made lists! :)

Yay I am the first to comment on 3. haha. You should look at Buca de Beppo's. They are in Seattle but I remember their prices being very reasonable. I am not sure about travel, but I bet they do it. I saw them at the Seattle Wedding Show and my FI loves eating there but has yet to take me. He says the food is phenomenal! Aside from that, Mama Stortinis is my only other idea. You could always use a normal caterer and do a pasta themed dinner. Most caterers have that, including mine. Browns Catering.

I thnk taht is hilarious that your FI had a wedding nightmare. I want my FI to get one! hahaha

    1. If you can use a pencil to outline the lettering on the black first then use silver paint, I think it would work out well.

    2. I like Kristen's reply - very tactful.

    3. No input

    4. I'm taking the whole week before off.  4th of July is a Sunday and I get Monday the 5th off as a paid holiday in observance, so it'd be dumb for me to work Tuesday then take the Wednesday, Thurs, and Friday off which was my plan for if I couldn't take the whole week.

    5. Awwww! Lol

    1. I think the sign idea is very cute.  I can't remember what your style/theme/colors are.  Whatever fits the style of your wedding.

    2. First of all, they're guys, so I doubt they really care.  We don't have a role for all of our siblings, and we're close to them.  I wouldn't worry about it.  But, if you want them invovled, you could probably find something for them to do that doesn't require getting a tux or being in the wedding party.  Depending on how formal/informal your wedding is, they could be ushers w/o wearing what the GM are wearing.  Or maybe you could find something for them to do at the RD or recpetion?  Announce your entrance?  Give a toast?

    3. Mama Stortini's is really good.  A little expensive I think, but very good.  Didn't tygirl say Olive Garden caters?  That's not in the same league, but another option.  I'm sure there are lots of others, but I don't know who caters.

    4. Yep.  We're getting married on a Friday and I'm taking the whole week off and then 2 weeks after.  I want time to spend with OOT guests and get all the last minute details done w/o being stressed out of my mind.

    5. That's very funny and cute.  I can gaurantee you that my FI will NEVER have a wedding dream/nightmare or stay up making lists.  : )

    3. Casa Mia in Puyallup caters and I love their food - Italian comfort.  Their pricing is pretty reasonable but they might not be as full service as Mama Stortini's.  Also, I think Snuffins out of gig harbor will go just about anywhere and they have an Italian menu option.

    4. I'll probably take Wed-Fri off, mostly for my own peace of mind and last minute details.

    1. olors: black/white (well ivory) & green (little bit of pink). theme: black/white & damask. I love black & white decor, it's so classic & simple.
    Our wedding date is 7/24/10.
    3. good idea - I will the Olive Garden (& I do have Bucca's catering/delivery menu). I will look into Casa Mia- thanks!

I don't think Olive Garden does catering per se, but they are really inexpensive with their Parties To Go menu: http://www.olivegarden.com/menus/to_go/parties.asp Although I would supply my own salad and dressing for the price they want.  I've heard good things about Snuffins.

    Good ideas!
I love the damask border idea!! And the board with "reception" "wedding" and such, I actually bought a wedding looking board that says "all because two people fell in love" to put up by the guestbook.

Do yourself a favor and take those days off. You'll be surprised at how much stuff comes up at the last minute and you'll be stressing. Most people are useless at work that last week anyway. :)

fyi on Olive Garden. The puyallup one does offer catering but after being transferred 4 TIMES! I finally got to a lady who said that she cannot offer services to me because we don't have a stove to use... none of the other caterers have asked me that (& I told her that!)....

1- I think stencils sound nice and it would be very easy to do. Why spend extra money having a shop do it?

2- Leave them as guests? Are they really gonna be hurt that you don't have a job for them to do? I don't see anywhere to fit them and I don't know if you should force fit them in somewhere. My opinion.

    3- No idea

4- FI and I, plus a whole bunch of my family is taking the whole week before the wedding off, then FI and I are taking the two weeks after off as well. But we have the vacation for it so that helps!

Good luck with all your decisions!

1- for a 5x7 thing.. i think DIY is your best bet.

2- they don't need to do anything and would probably prefer it that way judging by your description of them.

3- I say try mama's and if they don't work out, worry about some one else. they are the bomb.com. love their food! the only thing i didn't like about them when looking into them is that if you bring your own alcohol they charge you a corking fee... if i buy it, i don't want to pay you for each bottle AND your service!

4- I'm taking thurs and fri off for our sat wedding. and then until 2 mondays after for our HM! SQUEE!

5- that is sorta adorable that he had a nightmare! glad he cares about it as much as you! FI laughs at me wheni have them and get freaked out.
